Smile 91 Headers

Can anyone suggest a good set of headers and tell me how difficult they would be to install? THanks.

At the inexpensive end, homebuilt using the Mazdatrix kit.
For ~$100 more, you can get the really nice RB collected header.
The pics & sound of the cheap setup is linked in my sig below..

There are really only three "off the shelf" headders for the 13Bs.
Racing Beat
Can easially be found in many online shops. Will NOT bolt-up to your factory main cat, you'll need a little fab work to make this happen. However, if you are ditching the cats, you can add their pre-silencer and that assembly bolts to your factory cat-back. Quality is reported to be great.

Mind Train
Hard to find but the quality is supposed to be very good. Can't remember if it bolts to the cat for sure but I think it does. More expensive to than RB.

Pace Setter
Much maligned for quality issues but there are also several happy customers on the forum. Inexpensive. This WILL bolt to your factory main cat.

Instalation on the engine end for all these is easy and requires only normal tools, a jack and some stands. That's IF you can get the factory manifold off without any drama.

Cory
still has his factory manifold and gutted pre-cats....

go with racing beat...pacesetter headers are not designed well, are made with cheap materials and covered with poor paint that flakes off after a drive around the block.

I have mindtrain. It is a stock like high quality unite. The RB header is prettie tho but I don't want mine to stick out (visual instpection). The power I got from it was great and btw it does not bolt up to the cat in the stock location.

As for the Mindtrain header, I thought that there was 2 versions of the header, one that would bolt up to the stock exhaust and a longer one that did not.

I'm looking for my copy of the Mindtrain catalog to confirm...

i dont have a header yet, but the Racing beat is definatly my first choice, along with the 'mid pipe' to bolt up to y-pipe.

I've heard the quality is great... now a question about power

when i get my header, am i gunna feel a definate increase in power?

if so how much, and where in the power band will it be felt..

Oh Yeah - Low end is stronger, but you feel it most at 6-7K.

Also check that the aux ports & VDI are working.
