I have a 91 gxl automtic with oil like smoke coming from underneath the passenger area. does anyone out there think that this is just a trans leak onto the exhaust? if so, would this be from the pan or from the main seal? I understand that this is common and I have heard that auto trannys are not that great on rx7s. if this is true please explain why. I am not concerned with the performance issues related to this transmission(faster or slower than a stick) just reliability issues. intelligent responses please ( please dont just say " They suck" or I will think you dont know too much about the subject ). I really need help here. -thanks

 

Yes ,it sounds like the Input shaft seal is Gone and leaking out on to the exhaust

 

Is the leak large enough to puddle? If yes what color is the fluid? Jacking the car up might be the only way to identify the leak.
