Question 90 RX7 ..OMP rebuild kit?????

Finally figured out the RX7 IS leaking from around the OMP. Don't want to get one from the dealer, or so I've read. Anyone know if there is a rebuild kit out there? If not, I'm going to part out the car. 186K miles on the car, 14k miles on Mazda rebuilt engine. Lots of other new parts. BUT, BUT, want to try and fix first!!!!!
Please email me, I'm not here often....... craigw_27520@yahoo.com

Thanks

Craig W

If i was back home I could ship you one that works great. Try looking for one on Parts for sale. Its way better then parting out a seemingly fine car.

the dealership wants $2000 for an OMP. I laughed and said no thanks.

Yes, the car has lots of good parts. Borla exhaust, new shocks, new tires, new oil cooler, many other items. No one back home that could pull the part and ship it?
More than willing to fairly compensate you!!

Is the S5 OMP different from the S4?

From what I've been able to read, the S4 is mechanical, the S5 is electronic. But, I'm no Mazda RX7 expert. Maybe someone else knows better.

If you can't find another working S5 OMP, you could swap the front cover and OMP to an S4 mechanical. I know they are rebuildable.

I have 2 spares that I bought from one of the other forum members. Both are for an S5. (electrical) You can have one for $45 shipped. I bought them cause the engine code said I had a bad OMP. Turned out after 2 OMP, I had a bad ecu.

PUMP METERING 89-92 ALL 14-600B-N350 $1,430.60

You could buy another FC with that money and just take out the OMP.

If it's still pumping oil, I would imagine the leak is coming from one of the oil line gaskets, or the place where it mounts onto the front cover.

Block it off and start premixing. The OMP system is too faulty to trust-- I know, because it cost me my 2nd engine.

S5s will go into limp mode if the metering oil pump is removed.

And not to nitpick, but there are a lot of rotary engines out there running just fine using the stock metering oil system. All mine included.

Except pre-mixing is like quitting smoking.

OK, so the S5 is electrical. I'm sure there is some way you can take it apart and rebuild it somehow. I need to get my new OMP in my car.

taking off blows from a stop. I drive normal but it just doesn't go anywhere THEN is jumps out. I have some lines so I can rebuild it but I'm trying to buy one off of DESMOFO so I can rebuild it and install it.

Thanks everyone, have arranged for one. Maybe I'll look at the old one and see if it can be rebuilt. It's tough with a leaking OMP to be at a stoplight and getting smoked out of your own car!!!!
