Unhappy 90 GXL Universal Antenna Install ?

The Univ. antenna was shorter so I reused original base with some metal straps it's in place now....The only problem is that the wiring from factory has two conecters: 1) Is big attached to the antenna it's ORANGE;2) Is a smaller long plug and conects with another plug coming from the rear lights area... and the new one has only three: RED,BLUE and the antenna conection BLK? Can't get the damn thing to work...HELP!!!!

I can't remember the colors, but I know you have to use a relay when putting an aftermarket in. Reason being that they have opposite phases. Basically, the antenna goes up when one of it's leads is grounded. The relay is used to inverse the affect for the aftermarket's.

Good luck, Rishie

Thumbs up

Thanks ARD T2, I'm confused cause I tried to reuse the factory relay; But the conecter has 4 wires and the aftermarket antenna has only two? I can make go up and dwn by inverting the wires....but now the dam radio doesn't have power!!!!!!

I just removed the rear antenna. The radio works OK on just the front (windshield) antenna. That freed up the rear mount for my 150w CB. Trucker chatter may not be intellectual, but it can help you stay alert on long drives.

Question

SHOULD I SEE AN EXTRA CONECTER FOR WINDSHIELD ANTENNA IF I POP THE RADIO OUT? I NOTICED THE 2 ANTENNA STRIPS ON THE WINDSHIELD, WHY TWO ANTENNA CONECTIONS?:p
