Wow, how many people are building Turbo 7's?
Id go with the RX7 if i were you, more potential and it looks newer, nothing against the older supra's, i just like the 7 more

The supra turbo will be slightly faster (straight line wise) stock and with minimal mods. But with a full exhaust and some fuel on the Rx-7 you will be alot faster, and will probably have to pay alot more to get to that level with the supra. As someone mentioned before those year supras are notorious for blowing head gaskets. The supra is considerably heavier, and in no way will handle as well or feel as nimble as the rx-7. PLus in my opinion they are very ugly.

A guy I work with has an 89 Supra Turbo with basic bolt on mods (Cat-back, intake) And he would always cut up my car. Thinking that his car was better we raced on day after work and sure enough I spanked his MKIII ***! Ironically his head gasket blew later that evening. I’ve got a few buddies with Supras and I don’t like them. Their heavy and they don’t have the same sleekness that an RX-7 has.

And I'll add that the aftermarket/support for the rx7 is deep deep for a car that has been "discontinued". So for parts availability the rx7 gets the nod. Prior to my purchase of the vert, I was looking at Supras, and conquest tsi w/200+hpwr & a turbo I believe. but just TRY looking for aftermarkt part for the tsi. HA. Not a chance.

I'm leaning more towards the Supra at this point because the RX has been in storage for 4 years and i heard that they give problems if they're in storage too long... Any replies to this?

tough decision, but after seeing a MKIII dyno at 535 rwhp, and 518 rwtg, i was quite impressed. lots of boost, and lots of flying ice! (was on top of the bov).this car is daily driven and is very reliable. check out the stats on the supra forum, it's under the MKIII powerfest post. rx7 won't make as much power, but will be more nimble and for lack of a better word, perkier off the line. i love 'em both, but i'm biased and would probably choose a 7

my friend has an 88 supra turbo. he's spent wayyy more money on it in just maintenance. i've spent a grand total of $2000 including all my mods/oil changes and everything, and he's spent in excess of $8000. he's got a j-spec engine now, cuz he threw a rod. j-spec supra engines seem to be a lot more than j-spec t2 engines. my car is also a bazillion times more nimble than his car. and faster too.

as far as stock performance in a straight line, its pretty close. the supra is slightly faster from 0-60 (thanks to torque) but the rx7 is slightly faster in the 1/4 mile (thats top end baby!)
