88 Vert window sticker
Intresting that the Japanese cars sold in the south are always equipped slighty different than anyplace else

For example things that are options anywhere else in the world are standard like a CDplayer, or cruise control in the south.
alos intresting that even though your 'vert came with the GXL package, the weight was only 3003 lbs

My 88 vert is the regular one, without factory cruise, or tilt wheel, or the CD, although I added the GXL CPU, so that my key lights would work on delay and have the arm rest option.
And the 88 'vert didn't have an auto tranny option for the US market. So if yours had one when you bought it, a dealer or mechanic refitted the car with it.
But also sounds like mine was much closer to 2950 or so lbs in weight since it didn't have the tilt wheel, CD and cruise

How did you post the picture right into the forum?

The boat was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. They called it a RO-RO.
(For roll on - roll off)
They knew every vehicle location and the order it would come off.

Or maybe it came into long beach, they did the swap there and then repacked it up to the east coast.
*edit,
BTW to open an image you have already attached, you just get the path of the picture (in this case: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1440177) and go back to your post and edit it, including the path as an image using the vB code [img][/img]

It had the A/C when it rolled off the boat.
but y would they go though the trouble of doing a 5-speed to auto swap? wouldn't this require a diff : rad, tranny mount (custom made being they r in diffrent spots), a/t computer and other retared **** to the car, sounds like its just a mess up on the paper work to me

My vert is a 91, and it came with:
No tilt
Cruise control
speakers in the doors, the headrests (with armrest controls), and two woofers behind the seats
auto tranny
key hole light in door and ignition
AC
CD and tape players
airbag
3.909 rear
leather
factory alarm
speed sensitive PS
Not sure if there were different options for the series 5s or not, but mine seems to have everything except the tilt wheel. Lucky for me that I like the position of the steering wheel as it is. And 6 grand for AC seems like a lot.

I believe it left the factory as a automatic.
Regarding the A/C, it is a perfect install. Even the mounting screws on the condenser are the factory look.
Maybe this car left the factory loaded because they did not have the kits locally yet. ??
This was the first 'Vert off the boat in Charleston. Maybe Mazda wanted the first ones to be "show cars".
Anyway, it has been a great car, but really needed the 5 speed.
It has been converted, by me, to a 5 speed 20B set-up, then to a V8.
I know, here come the flames.

If it was port installed, there will be a sticker right behind the passengers knee vent that will say who the North American manufacture was.

Easy to tell if the A/C was factory or Port installed... is the interior evap cabinet built by Nippondeso or one of the American names

I just looked. It is Nippondenso.

Mazda wasn't even supposed to import any automatic 'verts for the 88 model year. They would have gotten fined by CAFE as a gas guzzler.
That would also explain how you got an off-black interior instead of Grey or blue. Off black normally was not available until the 89 model.
what was the production date of yours??? (if you hadn't blocked out the VIN number i could have found that out... but...
