88 turbo II, starts, but doesnt run
Hey, just got the rebuilt motor in, put oil in it primed it, checked all the wires, and all that good ****. here is my problem. the car will start, but it revs to 2000-2200 RPM, then dies. no sputtering nothng just cuts out. I have no clue as to what the problem is. I have checked and RECHECKED the timing and thats dead on. Any help with this problem would be VERY helpfull. CUZ IM LEAVING TO GO BACK HOME IN 2 DAYS.(the car is at my parents 1500 miles away from where i live) Like i said anyhelp would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yup, if it helps ALL the emissions are removed. I have checked the coils, and cleaned the spark plugs also. Any help with this would be great. thanks again
Well, what Karack is driving at, is the car will start and then die if the AFM and the intake system is NOT functioning correctly. Also, the interlock for the fuel pump (located internally to the AFM) may have failed, and is not allowing the pump to run.
2 things to check:
1. Is the entire intake system intact with NO VACUUM LEAKS.
2. If so, the jumper the fuel pump interlock, yellow connector by the pass strut tower.

Make sure the airfeed line for the BAC is connected up. That hose connects from the bottom of the BAC to the turbo outlet duct.
Also, on the back of the turbo outlet duct, there is a hole for the checkvalve. Make sure it's plugged in. There's also the hole for the bypass valve in the same location/area.
The brake booster line has to be connected at the back of the throttle body/manifold.

For some reason, about every third time I remove the afm and reinstall it, I forgot to put the electrical connector on. I usually remember just after I tighten the clamp around the intake hose. UGggh.
