88 convertible

ok, so i bought a white 88 rx7 convertible from Dzire. i brought it home the other day and started working on it. what i have done

installed 300zx fuel pump
installed 300zx alternator
installed radiator
fixed leaking top
got it to idle.

now i dont want to put a clutch fan on it. i want an e-fan. i was thinking about one off of a ford tarus. but im not sure. got to fix some wiring that has been cut. in the front bumper, there was some gay as hell looking flame mesh ****. first thing i did to the car was pull that **** out. i am also trying to find a passenger seat. i have two 240sx s13 seats im thinking about putting in but im not sure yet. also want to get high performance injectors. in the end the car will be turboed. thought about rear mount but i would have to do alot of research.

please comment and tell me what you think i should do
pictures up soon

On an 88 n/a the air pump is only useful for emissions reasons. If you remove all the emissions equipment you can remove that also. If you plan on keeping the cats, keep the airpump and ACV.

I pray that you don't flood with that 300zx pump.. I would hold off on the injectors as well until you have everything ready for the turbo. Just either send them to be cleaned or just use injector cleaner in the gas tank.

lots of topics on electric fan wiring. I recently wired up my taurus fan properly and it has been amazing. I am using a corksport radiator which is pretty thick and the texas heat is brutal. The taurus fan should be a 2 speed fan, and to have temps that are normal the high and low speed need to function. just fyi. any pics of said vert?

i have some pics of it but my photobucket is acting up, it wont let me on the site. would it be a good idea to run the e-fan to a toggle switch? ive seen this done before but didnt know if it was the best idea or not.

as for the air pump. i am putting stainless steel mazdaspeeed exhaust with no cats under it. so i can chunk that boat anchor?

Follow what is written here and you'll have no issues. One thing I would do differently is add a toggle switch wired parallel to the thermoswitch, so you can activate the fan manually in addition to it coming on at whatever temperature the fan thermoswitch is set at.

thanks for the link. and thanks for clearing that toggle switch idea up for me. i will definitely do that.

read the link, great info. i will probably install the fan to run any time the car is running because i have a alternator that is much larger than the factory one. it is off of a 1991 300ZX

OK so new problem. my convertible top just quit working on me. i put it down a little to take the targa out and then put it back up. when i tried to put it back down to put the targa back, it wont budge.

my first thought was electrical problem maybe? the car was sitting for two years disassembled on the side of the po's drive way.

It can be manually operated by lifting the spare tire cover and twisting the two 10mm bolts (one on each side they have a large phillips screw head but use a ratchet) out until the motors unlock. They'll make a clunk when the let loose.

They're visible through access holes one either side of the quarter panel plastics at the 9let o'clock on drivers side and 3 o'clock passenger side

And check the fuse for the top as well (30 amp soft top fuse).

That doesnt apply to the s4 engines. The 6pi actuators are operated by exhaust backpressure.

Keep in mind that the Taurus Fan is VERY thirsty. Not sure what the Z32 Alternator's output is, but I guarantee that nothing beats a Taurus Alternator's monstrous 130 amps.

If that's your plan, you're actually better off putting the stock thermoclutch fan back on.

This is just nonsense.
I've been running efans for several years now- from the Taurus 2-speed to the mighty Lincoln 18"- with a 30A fuse and never had any problems.
I've been using a 100A alternator and the voltage doesn't even flicker when the fan activates.
Jackchild has measured a couple of fans and the electrical draw is much less than commonly thought.

new problem. about 10 seconds after i turn the key to the on position, a very loud and annoying buzzer goes off and i cant find it to disable it nor do i know why it goes off. doors are closed top is up headlights are off, after i crank the car, the buzzer continues. my first thought was that the red line buzzer malfunctioned? but im not sure, any thoughts?

Only if you're eagle-eying the water temp gauge constantly.
Why not hook up a fan trigger and do this like OEM?
