88 or 89 clutch, what's the difference?

Hey, I got a clutch from the local auto parts store and when I received it, it was the wrong one. I returned it and the guy said, "That's what the computer says".
Now, I know he's wrong because this isn't my first clutch job. The release bearing had nowhere for the fork to attach to and the pilot bearing wasn't a bearing at all, but a bushing.

Now when he re-ordered the clutch, he says all they have is the 89 clutch. Can I use this clutch? I know it is 235mm as opposed to the 88 which is 240mm. Is this a problem? Also, the release bearing is different but I seem to recall that the 89 bearing is the one to use no matter which clutch job you're doing S4 or S5.

From Mazdatrix's site...

The stock 86-88 clutches are 240mm, the 89-92's are 235mm - don't ask us why.
All performance clutches we offer for 86-92 Turbo's are 240mm.

Mazdatrix's statement does not differentiate between N/A or TII.

The input shaft on the TII has more teeth than the N/A

do you have a picture? i bet there IS a place for the release bearing to attach to... the bushing type pilot bearing is better...

There is no problem running 88 or 89 clutch.
