I just got the lower shock mount thingy from 95nracer on here-



I just need the bolt now and that will be done.


On a different note, my starter died yesterday. It was the original one with like 146,xxx miles on it, it was in poor shape but did the job. I already ordered and new one and will install when it arrives.

nice progress nj, you in all theory shouldnt have to bleed the brakes during a pad and rotor swap. its a closed system so if you didnt unbolt any lines or bleeders then you shouldnt have to, however if it has sat you could have a few pistons stuck or hanging up. mine sat for about 7 months between motor swaps and whatnot and only 2 pistons on one side and 1 on the other would move freely. rebuilt calipers can be had at most local autoparts suppliers for about $60 each. you could pull your pads and insert something thinner or removed the calipers from the brackets one at a time and stick a piece of wood (like a hunk of 2x4) and have an assistant SLOWLY depress the brake pedal while you observe piston movement. it is critical however that while doing so your "stopper" is about as thick as the new rotors plus about 2/3 both pads thickness otherwise youll shoot the pistons clear out of the calipers. keep up the good work.

I did the starter this morning, nice and simple. worked like a charm, the car fired right up on the first try after replacing it.

Here the old crappy starter next to the new shiny starter-

It rides pretty nice, I'm getting more and more comfortable with the car each drive. I am quite impressed at the overall results thus far.

The brakes are getting better, though one rear side still makes some noise, I guess I'll end up rebuilding the calipers or buying some remanufactured ones eventually.

The steering is a lot better at low speeds after doing the ball joints, seems much easier to maneuver in the driveway and on the road.

Took her for a drive but forgot the cam, snapped these after I washed it.

I drove the car a lot today, probably for three hours or so, the most extensive testing we've done yet. The suspension and steering keep getting better as it gets driven. The brakes are wearing in okay, they seem to be getting better as well. The whole thing seems rock ******* solid at 5lbs of boost.

My shifter **** is gone, it just spins on the shaft, the stupid cheap short shift kit didn't hold up liked I'd hoped. The shifter itself is great, very nice short tight throw from gear to gear. but the threads were shitty to start with and withing one good day of driving they were right off.

Anyways, I made it to 6-7K rpms today for the first couple times, very nice indeed, quite a different car at 6.5K rpms than it is at 3K rpms....it pulls like a weightlifting mule on crack. I got a chance to mess with a buddies GTI today. His car runs 15psi or so, it's a joke. All I said was I'm running stick boost levels......interesting story there.

Okay so I decided to make some fuel corrections based on some logs and our previous discussions. I enriched the whole fuel map above 2psi by + 2.1%.

I then took it out for a test drive and was pleasantly surprised to see the AFRs down closer to where they should be under boost.

Check it out, I have two screen shots of data and a screen shot of the log that shows both of those data sets, the 10-14second and 15-20second portions of the log.







It looks like it could still use a little more fuel in the 3,500 - 4,500 rpm range though. It's at least getting well into the 12's most of the time now.

I like that I'm getting some practice in before the boost gets turned up. As for timing, I plan to keep the stock Load vs RPM timing maps for now, I'll go to MAP mode once the boost is over 10psi.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

hey thanks guys! I appreciate all of the nice comments, all the hard work is finally paying off. I'm going to do a bit more tuning on the 5psi and then move it up to 10psi.

Does anyone reccomend a particular boost controller?? I was thinking of the profec B spec 2 but I am open to ideas.

Coilovers are In!!

The coilovers arrived earlier today while I was at work, I was able to install this evening. I still have to test drive and do some tweaking for dampening but it's all in. I must say they seems like really good quality stuff just by handling during installation, very solid and precise.

Stance GR+








This is how it is after the install, it might settle a bit but probably not much, if it doesn't rub this will be perfect- maybe just a bit lower....

I really do like the Rtek 2.1, very easy to install, very easy to figure out, great for data logging and tuning AFR's, quick adjustments for fuel/timing changes, presets for bigger injectors, stumble elimination, anti flood, etc...... just a great product overall.

The biggest issue I have is the fact that all tuning has to be done via the Palm pilot while it is attached to the ECU in the car. They are working to make it possible to alter fuel/timing maps on a PC and then load into palm, then into the car.

Painted the Brake Calipers

Cleaned with acetone and Metal Ready then painted them freaking Hemi Orange from POR 15. This is the same engine enamel I did the rotor housings with. Nice paint.

Blitz SS BOV

The BOV is just fine, it does it's job well and I love the sound - it's a nice deep whoosh instead of a high pitched sqeak or chirp like some of the others I have heard. And it looks good. Overall I am very happy with it.
