87 TII intercooler piping hood clearance?

I have come across a possible problem. I just got my new A/R .70 turbo and with the current intercooler piping I have (Intercooler is tucked in front of the radiator for sleeperness) will not fit correctly. I'm looking at the universal (bleh) intercooler piping kits on ebay and it just looks like I will have some hood clearance issues. I haven't heard of intercooler piping causing major issues power and reliability wise since it's all basicially 2.5" aluminum piping. What cheap(ish) intercooler piping kits are out there that won't have me worried about hood clearance? Or are the ebay kits just fine?

Pictures of what you're dealing with and what exactly you're experiencing may help.

I would grab some but it's raining right now and I don't want to go pull off the cover. :P The current turbo is a t3/t4 hybrid is clocked to drivers side and the piping is in between the fan cowl and the radiator hose. The turbo I have will be 2-3 inches more to the drivers side since the adapter plate will be removed and the current piping will not fit the new setup. I need to buy new piping anyway and I don't have the money to spend on a custom fabricated setup. I have the new turbo clocked to be straight up (only way it will fit) and the piping kits I have seen do not having angled enough pipes that will allow me to close my hood (from what I have seen). I don't want to spend $150 on a piping kit without knowing if it will even fit.

Yeah, I'm mainly concerned about the charge pipe since the kits I see don't have a piece at the right angle for the turbo without using a silicone hose. Unless I'm wrong of course.

They sell all kinds of angles of aluminum pipes on eBay. They sell individual pieces, too. You ever see the "U" shaped pipes they sell? You can get two 90 degree angles from a single cut of that "U" shaped pipe. That's only an example.

Keep in mind... They make all kinds of couplers, too. (45 degree, 90 degree, 3-ply, red, black, etc.)

A 90* coupler should have a very sharp turning radius compared to a 90* bent aluminum tubing. I'd cut the angle off the pipe and toss a 90* coupler in hopes to lower the pipe, assuming there is another coupler further down and outside the picture to allow flex. Be sure to bead roll or weld a bead.

I've heard that 90* couplers can blow off. I don't know if it is true, or if it's only true under certain circumstances.? Just be aware if you go that route. It might get you by until you can afford to have something fabricated.

I used a 90 degree coupler on my last FMIC set-up. Only ran 12 PSI and it was located at the Greddy compression tube. It was a quality 5-ply coupler that I bought from Stylin' Motors. You can get anything from 2-ply to 6-ply couplers, and any reducer size you'll need. I remember making custom orders and the turnaround time being very reasonable. Check them out.

From their website:

"Stylin'Motors High Performance Silicone TURBO HOSE
Available in StylinBlue, StylinRed, or StylinBlack
All made with 100% Pure Silicone only from the Highest Quality Materials,
Polyester Reinforced Construction, Temp. Range: -65 F to +350 F and Manufactured
to SAE J20 Standards."

90 degree coupler at the compressor housing of the turbo here with 17PSI and no problem either. Just make sure to use contant torque clamps and not worm gear hose clamps and you'll be good to go.
