'87 rx7 options

What did the '87 turbo come with? Stuff like sun roof? Can you please give me a list of things it came with because I am looking into buying one.

Also, would it be hard to swap a turbo engine out of a newer 2nd gen turbo rx7 into the '87? The engine has 130k miles and might need replacement and corksport has the that engine for $1k. Only a 2 hour drive from my house. I need to know what options and features the '87 turbo came with, because I want to know what im buying.

Thanx

All turbo II's came with all options included...the only thing an 87 might have or not have would be power steering(optional), leather seats(optional), and various levels of theh stock audio system if still present. For instance, my turbo II has power steering, cloth seats, and the 6 speaker audio system with factory cd adn tape(one of the rare FC's with door speakers before 89, non-convertible).,

As far as the 89 up engines, it can be used in your car, but you'll need to take off teh wiring, injection, throttle body, front cover, and oil metering pump from your old 87 engine and transplant onto the 89+ engine to use in your car...the control systems are quite a bit different, but all the changes can eb made in a few hours time if you have both engines side by side.

Add ABS as an option...
Power door locks seem to be an option as well, as not all of the Turbo II models came with them.

Well, it doesnt have a hood scoop like yours. Did the ones before '88 not have a hood scoop at all, or did the guy mess and put that its a turbo?

Is corksport a good place to get engines at for rx7s? I want to get the newer 2nd gen rx7 engine. It is $200 more than the older 2nd gen engines. Do you think it is worth it or should I just stick with the same type of engine and save $200?

Thanx

All turbo II's came stock with teh scoop...it is a requirement of the turbo engine. IF it has a flat hood, one of 2 things has happened: 1) it is not truly a turbo II or 2) it is a turbo II modified with a front mount intercooler, versus the stock top-mouint unit, which requires the hood to be there. Many people who go FMIC put on a non-turbo flat hood to make thier car look slower, as a sleeper type deal.

1987 models did not have a spoiler option.&nbsp If it did, it was some dealer option that was not available to all RX-7's.&nbsp The 1988 Turbo II started to come with rear spoilers standard.

My 87 has a spoiler, stock, and it has not been repainted(pervious one owner car). I have seen 87's with spoilers, just not many...I think it was an option though.

They're blowing sunshine up your tailpipes, that's a NA base model. Still not a bad price for it, but that definitely isn't a turbo.

No way its a turbo II. It had 4 lug phone dial rims. should buy it and then sue for false advertising.

Don't do the TII Swap, its a waste of your money. If you want a turbo, buy a TII. The first time you punched it with the TII conversion I wouldn't doubt it if your n/a stuff fell apart because its not turbo spec. Get a TII.

Ummmm....

How much can I get one for? I dont need one in excelent condition. I can buy one for cheap, that needs an engine or some body work, because I can do both. Where is a cheap place to buy NA engines at? That car for $1300 probably needs a new engine. Do you still think that $1300 is worth it for that rex even if I have to get a new engine?

NA is good enough for me, I think. What is the 2nd gen's 0-60 and 1/4 mile?

I WANT A 2ND GEN RX7 SO BAD.....I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY LONGER!! I FELL IN LOVE WHEN I SAW ONE IN PERSON. THEY ARE THE BEST CAR EVER!!

If it's in good shape, even 1300 for an NA isn't bad IMHO. Should you get it? Depends.. Can you afford 2500-3500 for a decent shape T2? If not, get the NA, it's still a good car, just don't think you're going to be kicking anyone's *** at the drag strip.. Auto-x on the other hand...
