86 Flooding Problem..
Just got the car, owner told me it flooded every once n a while so i toook it anyways. Ive been searchin threads to find out the fix and here is what i got.. People said to clean the injectors because they may be leaking. Ive been told to get a switch installed inside the car to shut off the fuel pump so i can fire it with it off then turn it back on and it should fire.. what else could be it? should i just buy new injectors and see or what?

Just get your injectors cleaned--less than 100.00 to have it done to all four
You can put a switch in if you want,I am so use to haveing it in my car I still use it
even though I don't have to anymore after I had the injectors done.
Hopefully you have good compression.

two causes of flooding would be 1) too much fuel (bad/leaky injectors), or 2) poor compression. Do a compression test on both rotors. 90 and below, you're pretty low and might be looking at a rebuild very soon. A really GREAT number would be 115-120... around 100 or so is average. If the compression turns out good, send your injectors off to be cleaned or purchase new ones.
The fuel cut switch is a bandaid for one of the above problems... I know because I have one. This should help.
