86 FC with a turbo? WTF
There is a guy that has an RX7 that supposidly has a stock turbo that he upgraded to a "stage 4" whatever that means. I think he is full of ****, sounds a little too grande turismo for me thanks... But anyway, if indeed it is a turbo with some form if any upgrades, would it be worth 1000 bux? I dont know anything about it other then it has a crunched fender and hood. What do you think? Perhaps a donor for a T2 conversion on my 87 na?

as far as i'm aware of there were no TII's in 86 they came out with them for the 87 model. now the date inside the door may say 86 but the month would be tward the end of the year.

The whole "Stage 1" - "Stage X" thing is basically something shops make up. You can have a stage one which is a radiator cap upgrade, or a stage one which is a full rebuild. So it really comes down to what actually has been replaced/upgraded.
However I too have only heard of Turbo II's tarting in 87. He might think its an 86 because it might say 86 on his door panel. Manufactured in december of 86 would make it a 87. If I am understanding this correctly. Some obvously call it 86.5... but theres quite a few cars producted in whatever year, which are considered the following year becuaes they are 6 months into the year...
Hope that helps.

LOL... I saw an '86 Turbo for sale in the Denver paper today. I was like, "WTF?" The first year that the FC got a turbo was in '87. I'm thinking that elfking is right about the, 'made in '86, but called and '87,' thing

Maybe they have a swap and didn't mention it, and as far as stages, BNR is the only one that I know of with a "stage system" for FC turbos. There may be more, but I'm not aware of it.

The 87 Model year RX-7 started in production in mid 86... so if you were clueless and didn't know, or were unable to read your VIN, then you might think you had a 86 Turbo.

Just look at the VIN... if the 10th digit is G it is an 86. If the 10th digit is an H it is an 87 model, and if the 10th digit is a J it is a 88 model year car.

To all who care: These people are so full of ****!!!!!!!!!! The car has no turbo, has nothing special about it. it is a base 87 that was wrecked. He said he can get 2500 for the engine... WTF? a stock 13b? no way! He said he was getting 1300 for the transmission? Bullshit. That is the biggest scam brewing I have ever seen, so if anyone wants a good laugh, please feel free to call 719-657-3545 ask for Paul.... DO IT AND TELL YOUR STORY. I should post the vin so no one will buy that car. What do you all think? Tell me then call the number. Thanks!

I had an employee who tried that one on me once! He had a Daytona that he said he put twin turbos on. I knew he was full of it so I asked him to show me. He pointed to the throttle body as one of them and said the other was "down under the engine where you can't see it" ?!? What do they teach a class somewhere on how to lie about turbos?
