86 block/89 manifold

Ok I know this question has come up before but not in this way.

Basically what I'm doing here is I'm doing an 89 engine swap in to my 85 GS (first gen) Now I have all of the boltons for the 89 block but I dont have the block itself. I was given a deal through pineapple racing from one of the owner friends so I decided to get my block from there.

When I called them they had an 89 block, but when I called them 4 weeks later they had sold it and only had 86-88 blocks for the second gen. They tried to talk me into the 86 engine saying that the core doesnt have very many differences and the major horse power gain was in the intake manifold. The guy also told me that the intake manifold would bolt right up.

I gave them the ok, but now that I've started looking into it, it doesnt seem that the 89 manifold bolts up to the 86 block correctly...

Now I've seen alot of proceedures for using the 89 manifold but they are using some 86 boltons as well which would make my situation unique.

So basically will this thing bolt up like the guy says it will? I really have my doubts here, the project is allready becomming complicated enough and I dont want to further complicate it with this problem.

What would you guys reccomend I do?

i have a street ported 87 motor(NA) and i also want to perform this swap. I was told from a friend that the only real differences are that on the intake manifold where the TB goes their is a nipple on the TB. All you have to do is grind if off and it should fit in nice. I was also told that thier is an extra 10-15 hp after doing this!

Would every thing else work ok? Keep in mind I'm using everything from the 89... including the ECU.
