6 port turbo oil drain dilemma (searched)...

6 port turbo oil drain dilemma (searched)...

What are people's thoughts and experiences with using a (welded) bung on the oil pan for oil return for the turbo? Its almost impossible to find a spot on the pan that is above oil level, has anyone had a problem with turbo seals going bad due to backpressure on the drain side?

I don't want to tap the front cover in case I get metal shavings in the oil and definitely want to avoid installing a TII front cover.

From what i have read AaronCakes is below the oil level and is still running fine

Mine's been fine with a bung welded on the oil pan forever. It's well below the oil level.

In my opinion, modifying the oil pan is far easier then the front cover. You'll need to pull the pan to remove the front cover anyway if you plan on doing a proper job.

Because I do all my work in a tiny car port (parking spot w/ a roof). Not exactly an ideal workplace for a job like that. Trying to keep big jobs out of the way here.
