5th gear 6k rpms

I decided to be stupid tonight and do a high speed run on the highway. I got to 6k rpms in 5th gear before the shaking made me regain my sanity and slow down. Someone do the math and tell me how fast I was going. The speedo was pegged, so I'm not sure...

Assuming you have the 90 TII listed in your profile, with stock-diameter tires and a stock diff, and the engine was doing exactly 6000rpm, you were doing 143mph.

Ok, so i didn't really do that. But my newer FC isn't stock. I was just curious. I haven't done something that insane with it. But I thought the tranny could go to 190 something, so what would 6k rpms be? It's definately not 143 mph. What is it?

that sounds about right... I've been up to 130 and I was at like 4 or 5k.

also.. the speedo goes alot higher than 143....

my old fb with the 12a and a non-working speedo, i went to 6,200 rpms in 5th gear which i estimate as about 130 mph because when the police pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 115 i was at 5300 rpms and the rate of speed/rpms seemed like that. BTW i lost my license for a year
i HATE the lack of a license, and my 75 hours of community service....virginia's traffic system sucks monkey *****.

did i mention this was my first ticket of any kind ever? f**kin as*holes

Only ******* in that story would be you. They're doing their job, they're paid to do what they do. You don't call the guy at taco bell an ******* for handing you your food, do you?

I am personally glad they took your license away. It protects everyone else that obeys the laws and doesn't go 130-140mph on public freeways (or wherever you did this).

yea i understand, but i think i would have gotten the point with a little lesser punishment...i dont plan on doing this crap again, even though it was a lot of fun. dang i wish i would have known thats as fast as they could go, i shoulda ran, but i didn't expect to lose my license, when i saw him in my rear view mirror he was like a 1/2 mile back (long ways) and even after i slammed my brakes it took him a minute to get up to me. i still don't know what i was thinking.

I think you know that's completely untrue. My bet is that the punishishment you received is a big part of why you claim you won't do it again.

...i shoulda ran...
Yeah, that would've made your situation much better...
