5 minute FMIC sprayer
5 minute FMIC sprayer
This has been done before, but it's raining and I'm bored. I was hoping to make the cheapest but I tied the TMIC guy at a total of $6 dollars spent. This is ghetto riggin' and should not be read without a sense of humor. The only money you will need is $5.99 for a bag of 90 degree spray nozzle from Lowes, and stuff lying around the garage. This requires NO wiring at all, retains the factory harness, and you just push the button on your cluster. This might activate your windshield wipers, but does not on mine.
First step find your windshield washer bottle you removed when you installed your FMIC.

Next remove the motor, sensor, and top and side rubber seals. Now find a spray bottle lying around your garage.
Cut a 1 1/2 inch hole in the bottom. Insert the top rubber seal in the bottom of the bottle (it will be a really tight fit). Insert the small rubber seal into the top. (it's a perfect fit
) Remove the threaded collar from the spray bottle top and install it back on the bottle. (now it will not vibrate out
) The simple push the motor in the top of the bottle and the sensor into the bottom. (Because it is hung upside down it is always on unless you flip your car over). The sensor is the water tight fill cap.

Next install the bottle next to you radiator with zip ties. Make sure it doesn't block the radiator, and that the line is routed higher than the bottle to prevent dripping.

Push in a 90 spray nozzle.

After testing this out in multiple locations I found that the front lip is the best. A single nozzle sprays across the entire intercooler.

Why not just use the stock setup and use a windshield sprayer to spray onto the intercooler. Do you have a way of logging temps? A dry and a wet run comparing temps would be cool.
I have a haltech so I can data log.
I did a test run last night, I got on the highway and boostest over until my air temps settled at 90 F ish and sprayed and it cooled down quicker than no spray, but thats just an observation.
The last time I hit the 1/4 my air temps were hitting 120 F and I could not get them down before my next run. Sence then I got the spray bottle manually spray, but got bored and automated the process. So as long as it works there I'll be satisfied. I do not plan leaving it in the car, unless it is really hot out, or I'm going to the drag strip. Even then this is just me being bored and screwing around.
