5 lug down to 4 lug (S5)

Hello, I have a 1990 Gtu, and i was wondering how hard it would be to go from 5x114.3 to 4x114.3. Obviously this isn’t a favored choice, but i love the old school 4 lug rims, and finding that style in 5x114.3 seems to be impossible or very expensive. Would this be a hard swap to do? What all would be needed to complete this swap?

It would be a very similar process as doing the 4 to 5 lug swap. You'd need hubs and rotors to start with, and probably different rear calipers. I'm unsure how well the front calipers would match the smaller 4 lug rotors. I doubt the rear calipers would work, you'd have to switch to the 4 lug rear calipers which may be difficult to find.

IIRC Aaron Cake has 4 lugs with Turbo II/GXL calipers on front. I'm not sure if he's running the stock 4 lug rotors out back though. Solid rotors suck IMHO because I don't think they handle heat as well.

Honestly, I just wouldn't worry about the old school wheels.

First, there are many old school wheels that can fit.

You may run into issues with offsets with old school wheels too.

I think you're not factoring the expense of running down (and downgrading) to 4-lug stuff.

Just find someone looking to upgrade to 5 and spend a day in the driveway swapping stuff between the 2 cars. win win for both parties.
