4th gear cut...
I was in 4th gear tonight, full throttle, hit what i think i remember to be around 4 or 5k (around 100mph) and it just stuck there. Wouldn't accelerate at all. Held it there for a second or two and still nothing, it looked like it was trying but just couldn't get past a brick wall.
btw, 88 TII 10th ae with no mods at all. My gas mileage kinda sucks so i think i need new plugs, wires and maybe o2.
Anyone have any ideas? i looked around here and fc3s.org and couldn't find anything like this other than the 3800 cut but i swear it was later. (maybe someone who has hit 100 many times can remember what the gearing says the rpms should be at)

allmost sounds to me like somehow you might be hitting fuel cut?? how high was your boost going on the stock gauge? if its going all the way to the top of the stock gauge (45 mm/HG or somthing like that) then thats over 7 psi, and you could be hitting cut. cut is like 8.5 or somthin.
your cat might of burned threw making your exhaust more free flowing??making a bit of boost creep??
are u running premium gas??check your fuel filter maybe??
is your timing correct??
did the car seem like it was "bucking" like rocking back and forth kind of not wanting to go?
100 mph is around 6000 rpm give or take.

i think i broke my stock boost guage when i pinned it in 4th one time and it flew too 15psi....
i havent seen the damn thing move since....
i dont think he was hitting fuel-cut with the stock car, boost starts to fall off just above 5000rpm....

no bucking noticeably, at 100mph it was a stretch to check my gauges, didn't quite catch my boost . I'm running mostly 89 right now, with gas being so high but mostly run 93. 3 cats burning through might be kinda a stretch but i have been smelling some more fuel so idk. lol, i guess i'll have to go out and this time check my gauge!!

mine still works after hitting 15 psi... i peged the stock gauge and my cheap aftermarket gauge haha( my crapy gauge i paid $20 used for, goes from 30 IN/HG to 15 psi. then the needle hits the end)
ive seen all the cats burn threw before, these things run hot as hell, burned my aftermarket cat thjrew in a few months!!!!
id really run premiuim just to be on the safe side knock is bad on these motors.
watch that gauge if its maxxing out, you need a FCD!!! and an aftermarket gauge. or your walking a thin line.

i like my autometer guage....
though sometimes it moves so fast i'm not sure where it's at, i need to clock the thing 90degree's to the left so i can see it better....
not sure how i'll do that considering it's stuck but it needs to be done!...
same with my AF guage, i cant see it, hahaha....

and are you sure about the gauge. i go to the top of the gauge all the time...are you sure the top of the gauge isnt 5.5 PSI? ill go try to switch from mm/HG to psi. im just wondering because my car bucks and maybe this is the cause...?

Wow, he must be a crappy driver! Keeping up with an STi even on a track in corners is almost impossible in a stock TII with a decent driver in the Sub.

New vs new, the STi and the TII handle pretty closely, then ontop of that the STi is almost 2 1/2 seconds faster in the straight line. If both drivers were equal, the STi would beat the snot out of the TII (especially since it's 14+ years old)
