400 whp 13bt?

what would i need to get around 400whp on a 89-91 13bt? I would like to know what would be the least expensive way to get that much power?

you can build a reliable 400rwhp TII for about $6k.

you would need a new turbo setup, probably a 60-1, or a T04S series (something similar). new intercooler, probably a standalone EMU such as a haltech, full exhaust, diagnostic gauges, etc, and some dyno time. Proper fuel components are necessary.

Supermac7: What you listed right there is going to cost close to the $6k. You didn't include the cost of a full rebuild, etc..

New Turbo setup with associated piping - $1000?
New Intercooler, probably front mount? - $1000.
New engine managament computer - $1000+.
Full Racing Beat Exhaust - $800 after shipping.
New Intake - $100
Full engine rebuild, street port (or more?) proper tuning and setup of everything - $4000 or more.
Proper fuel components - $500?

Scratch that full RB exhaust or figure in the cost of a new downpipe, a full turbo upgrade won't work with the downpipe. $100 intake can go away, since with a standalone all you need is a $40 filter.

Would it be better to buy a S5 t2 and fully rebuilt it, or to bye a s4 then swap in a s5 t2 in it then start modifying it with out rebuildint it? also how much more will one cost than the other(including cars, just estimate on how much they go for)? tanx

There is a guy out here in Portland who's car is suposed to produce around 450whp.

He's got a Pineapple built motor
Haltec
GIANT turbo (not sure on size)
FMIC
and a bunch of other junk

With the price of the car he's about 10 grand into it. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

You don't have to have a rebuild as you can run the reliable 400rwhp on a stock series 5 block all day long with the proper tuning. You would only need a bult motor if:

1) You motor is trashed or has extremely high miles.

2) You want a little more leway to make a mistake or two more while tuning.

3) You absolutely have to have the 20 rwhp or so a street port will gain you.

Here is the setup I would suggest if you are starting with a known good block.

Haltech----------------------------$1100
60-1 Turbo-------------------------$900
HKS manifold----------------------$250
HKS wastegate-------------------$340
Boost Controller------------------$300
NPR intercooler-------------------$250
Intercooler piping and clamps-$200
Walbro fuel pump----------------$120
Cleaned 550 Primaries------------$50
1600 Secondaries----------------$200
Blowoff Valve----------------------$190
Fuel Pressure Regulator---------$170
Upgraded Radiator----------------$220
Electric Fan-------------------------$180
Custom Downpipe----------------$200
Apexi Single N1--------------------$450
Other extra parts needed-------$500

That setup will make 400 rwhp if tuned properly on a stock block for around $5600.

For those of you wondering about the hybrid route. It is possible to make around 350 rwhp with a 60-1 hybrid as long as there is very good tuning and a stand-alone on the vehicle.

Hot damn. That's much cheaper than I thought. That means I'm that much closer with the TII i'm about to buy (I think). This is a good thread, i say.

Shieeeetttttt. You guys underestimate the internet way too much
ALL of this from Ebay
HKS PFC F-con- 175.00(not standalone, but works DAMN good)
HKS BOV-123.50
NPR FMIC 236.23
Blitz SSpec Boost controller 102.50
60-1 HiFI(not from ebay) -$400
J-spec motor(not from ebay)- 950
T2 drivetrain(Bought a series 5 parts car w/o engine)-$50
Exhaust components $250
ACT clutch-219.00

Grand total of $2506.23
Granted it may not put down 400 RWHP, but that is cheap as hell for a fast *** NA > T2 conversion

uh, dude, all you have figured in for fuel is the F con, there are such things as injectors, fuel pump, upgraded lines, fpr, etc.

You can not get an exhaust that will sound good and flow enough air for $250. How about other little things such as the intercooler piping, etc?

i wouldn not try to run a 60-1 on the stock computer, but that's just me.

Did anyone read his question?

" I would like to know the least expensive way to get that much power".

$600 direct port nitrous system + $120 fuel pump would do 400 rwhp.
