4-lug to 5-lug

I was wondering if it would be easy just to take a five lug set up off a different year, and swap it for my 4 lug pretty easily! And if i wher to do so what are the steps to do so?

You can run the 4 piston front calipers and the option of vented rear calipers

Technically the 5lug hub would be stronger than a 4lug.. however most people on this forum don't need the extra strength

from what i have seen there are also a larger variety of wheels for the 5lug hubs vs the 4

if you can, grab both front struts, spindles hubs calipers and rotors, and the rear all you need are the hubs however if your getting this from a parts car just drop the whole subframe and take it all in one piece

i always hear people saying the 5-lugs have better brakes as opposed to 4-lugs. is this true when stock? are there more options/better options for 5-lug break set ups?

4 lug, you have non vented single piston brakes, on 5-lug, you have 4pot vented fronts, and i think 2post vented rear... not all 5 lug cars came with the vented rear, however.

Point: Yes, stock, the 5 lug brakes are better.

ummmm well what you have to do if you have found out yet is that you have to take the caliper off of course by the two bolts on the back side of the caliper and open up the center cap there should be a bolt on it unscrew that and you have it done.

On the FRONT..you take the spindle/Hub assembly off at the Shock Bolts/Tie rods/Ball joints, and on the REAR:you take off the Hub/spindle assembly off.You need a 32 mm Axle Nut Socket.(about the Only Thing "special required to do the swap). The 21mm Toe Bolt will be a Real Pain in the *** to get off.I have found that IF you take the entire Brake and Bracket Assembly off and Also the Brake rotor, you can get a Good Hold of it with a Socket. You have to Bend the dust shield a bit,in order to get a good GO at it.You "should" get the Small steel lines for the 4 piston calipers up front. The old Four lug ran the Flexlines direct to the Caliper.YOu can get away with running the Flexlines to the Caliper though.(trust me)...I've done this Swap THREE times in the past YEAR(different cars).I've pretty well got it down to a Science now..Good luck to ya.
