my third gear grinds upshifting and downshifting..only way it wont grind if i put it into 3rd ever so gentile..now im not abusing the car,im shifting like i always had..i've had it for 4 yrs now..and the past 6 months its been doing it..every other gear is smooth..about a year ago, i replaced all the mounts,trans,diff,motor..and i replaced the tran crossmember..i dunno..i just have no idea what it is..i guess it cant be anything to bad, because i've been driving around like this for 6months..i just go into 3rd like a old lady..and it wont grind..any suggestion??

Sounds like your third gear syncro is going out. Not uncommon at all. Will require removal and disassembly of your transmission to repair. Or a replacement.

You could try changing the fluid to something really good, like Redline Synthetic, which MAY help a little...

alright thanx..i might be trying to get rid of the car..its a 87 gxl,just hit 89k original miles..maybe when i decide to sell it you might no some-one..how often do you change your tranny fluid?
im second owner of car..i bought it with 53k original miles..im not sure if the old lady ever changed it..i mean it she never drove it..it was only a weekend car..it was mint condition..lol she was the coolest old lady i ever seen..driving a rx7!!
