P side window switch... shorted?

okay ive searched and been going through the manual and before I start taking door panels off, it doesn't hurt to ask here. anyways:

my power windows (s4) work from the master switch (up/down) my passenger switch will not move the passenger window (and yes the master switch is set to P window on)

but if your moving the passenger window from the master switch, if you hold the passenger switch while the master is moving it down, it will stop the window right there.

I had another switch laying around so I popped it in thinking it was a bad switch but same thing again.

so now im thinking maybe the hot wire from the passenger switch to motor is shorted within the door panel?

Switch failure is very common on the FC, as you may already know. I think there is a write up somewhere about how to fix the switch, if it's not worn out. Something about sanding the contacts down a little because of some deposit build ups, keeping it from working. If it were me, I'd try replacing the switch first and then attempting to repair the old one.

Sorry, I wasn't paying enough attention. My mind has been a jumble of of marbles lately...been tripping over all my own words as well. I'll do some searching myself and see if I can find that DIY for you.

i just took out the master switch and 'rebuilt' it, just scraped all the contacts with a screwdriver lol.
im gunna try and bypass the switch for the power window on/off to fully on and and hope it doesnt draw amperage with the car off, although it shouldnt.

im shocked on how much black was covered on those switches yet they still worked fine lol

okay, fixed it. without tearing the switch apart I took a piece of wire and soldered it across the on/off exterior contact points and it works fine now

the switch that I thought was good, that NMJ87T2 sent me, isnt good so I replaced it with my old one and it works fine.
