350hp on an NA? Its unreal, right? Even peripheral...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-...em250219079837

This guy claims to have 300hp on his NA....I'm sure he's full of it.

Anyhow, it got us into a discussion on our own RX7 Quebec Club, and a poster there tells me that some drag guys get 350hp out of their NA engines...Is that even possible? I would think not. Not after all the tech searching I did for my 20b NA....

Thank you.

Spec.

there's a guy on here that claims to have a 10 second all engine N/A? I think a full PP might be able to push that out (300hp, not 10 seconds)

350hp in a full race Peripheral Port motor is doable, but it'd be so loud, it'd idle like crap and not have that much low rpm power, so it'd be completly and utterly un-streetable. If you quiet them down for the street they loose a lot of power, they need to run uncorked to work at their best.

300hp out of that setup is total BS. Maybe 200hp, but not even close to 300.

First off, thats a 12A still running side ports. I suppose it could have one hell of a J-bridge, but I dont know how much that Holley 650 would support. Even then, it wouldnt be anywhere near 300.

As for over 300hp NA, it is doable. Google "Jesus Padilla"
Hes running a all-motor PP 1st gen RX7 nationally in the high 9s.

Um, that engine looks like a 83-85 12A engine. If thats the case then there is NO WAY he's getting 300 out of it. 300 on a turbo 12A is a lot. 200 is pushing it on a 12A NA. If there's a way to get 300 out of my 12A with a plain setup like he has then I'm switching back to my FB for a while...

I don't see why a Holley 650 wouldn't support 300 hp all day long?

Im not sure if the 300hp is possible, the guy does say estimated i would say its a high estimate.

All in all thats a pretty cool little truck.

Easily done with a peripheral port 13B and a good tune. However the open exhaust required is going to be LOUD (like you've never heard loud before). Anyone within a few hundred feet will need earplugs.

Someone with a p-ported motor said that his exhaust registered 108 dB, and that was from the far end of the straightaway facing the other direction. There was a guy in NZ (I think) with a blown alcohol PP that was kicked off the drag strip because it was too loud.

Yeah, the car I think your speaking of was a 3 rotor PP 1st Gen with a HUGE supercharger.
I think they stopped racing it because it was too loud for most tracks and muffling down that Pport would have choked it enough to make it less competetive.

But, this Sunday at Lakeland, I saw a whole bunch of 13B NA's in Starlets and RX3's and 83 Corollas and they were running high 5's low 6's in the 1/8 mile which is like high 9's low 10s 1/4. I mean, don't get me wrong, those cars aren't for street use at all, but they were doing it on NA. Oh yeah, one was on alcohol also. Loudest backfire you've ever heard in your life from these cars... You could hear the Idle at like 3000-4000 RPM. Most were carburated also...

I've never heard one in person, but I can't even imagine it. I ran my NA open header for a week while waiting for a parts and I had to wear earplugs, and that was with just a streetport.

Only a full bridgeport, but close enough:

Peripheral port, but it's a 4 rotor:

Finally, a peripheral port 13B NA:

The guru that is helping me with my Motec has tuned 380BHP on a n/a P-Port. Do able but not streetable. To keep the ports small enough to be streetable would kill a 1/3 of the power.
