well, thats not gonna be exactly easy. If your motor is solid, then u can start with full exhaust, tid mod, fcd, bigger fuel pump and some kind of fuel controller. For your goals you will probably also need a boost controller, upgraded injectors, a more intense fuel management (stand alone or piggyback) and some serious tuning. Im not even sure if those goals are possible on a stock ported motor (correct me guys but wouldnt a street port be needed for 400hp), and im not sure what the stock turbos efficiency is but i have a very strong feeling 400 hp is outa its range. Dont expect these goals on a stock 14 year old motor, a rebuild may be a good idea, and if uve already got it apart do a streetport...........none of this is cheap of course.

a 60-1 and a standalone w/ front mount, 1680cc secondaries, and a good fuel pump

and thats just the basics

You should definately just start looking at standalones and see which one you like.

you could do 300 on stock motor w/ stock ecu and some piggybacks.

how many miles on your motor?

yup, 350 would be pushing it with the stock ECU since the MAF will really limit it to ~350RWHP no matter how hard you try to push past it.

i have seen claims of 500RWHP on stock ports however. check the dyno slips section.

there have been people on stock FD remans running 10s so stock ports are not your limitation

a local guy did 400rwhp on stock port jspec w/ 60-1. about 340rwhp or so on pump gas. think he ran around 14psi daily

never said the stock ports were the limitation but the MAF is a big limitation.

here is an example, notice a few replies he is using a 'stock port' S5 block.

i was just agreeing with you

anyways 60-1 isn't even a huge turbo. im sure you could make a lot more power on stock ports, it's been proven many times on FDs but there ports are larger than ours.

wow, thats amazing. now thats the extremes of stock ports. but he's 9.7:1 rotors w/ 3mm seals, so its a built motor. just no intake or exhaust timing

think of how much he could gain with even a decent sized streetport

Give it up.
It's either going to end up stupid expensive...or stupid expensive.
Stock ports going to require a big turbo that the stock ECU cannot control efficiently.
This means a crappy set-up or a dead engine.

Get a job that pays well...save about $5,000, then come back and ask the question.

Stop trying to get cheap.
Cheap will bite you in the ***.

yeah a rebuild would be a nice safety margin
but ive seen a "jspec" that was never unopened, friend had it for 3 years, and ran 14psi daily and did a hair under 400rwhp, was like 398 or so on the dyno.
then later that day he cranked the boost and went dragracing, and then on the way home he cranked it to something like 1.6 or 1.7 BAR to see how high it go before it blew because he had his 13B-RE motor to replace it with.

Just got to keep the heat down, intake and exhaust. not going to make the motor bulletproof but thats a good part of being reliable.

But yes, listen to Ted, he has some good advice.

Ya dont go cheap, if your paitient you could wait for the Rtek 2.0 which should be comming out real soon now. At a minimum do what I have done. I am running a BNR stage III which is suppose to be good for 350rwhp.

just to ellaborate on what usmcjsy said. The bnr stage III turbo is a hybrid turbo that uses the stock backside of the turbo and a larger frontside. it has a 60-1 compressor and like he said it is good for around 350hp with people that have clamed as much as 380hp with this setup with a ported motor. The good thing about these turbos is that it bolt directly to the stock manifold and downpipe so that it doesn't require anything other than what you have and the proper upgrades to support it of course. here is the link. http://www.rx7store.net/index.asp?Pa...S&Category=364

I think standalone is pretty much mandatory for 350-400hp. Not necessarily to actually reach those power levels, but to make your car much more driveable. It's not cheap by any means, but it's worth every penny.

i believe he is referring to 2 different people/engines, the top one a FD with stock ports and the bottom a stock port FC with a big single.
