TX 320 hp on Stock a Turbo?

I have a S5 Turbo and I wanted to know what would be the best way to get to 320-350 Horsepower range. I don't want to upgrade the stock turbos If I don't have to. Anybody have any Ideas? I tried looking in the FAQ to see what the max PSI the stock Turbo can handle but I didn't see it in there.

I don't think you'll be able to reach that kind of power with a stock turbo, the stocker runs out of breath after about 10 psi. However, the BNR hybrid turbos (http://www.bnrturbos.com/2ndGen.htm) allow you to have a larger compressor housing while keeping the stock hotside and manifold, making it a bolt-in affair. You'd easily reach 300 horsepower with a stage 2 or 3 and all the appropriate supporting mods (more fuel and a way to control it, more cooling)

^ agreed. you can push more than 10 psi but then you aren't doing much for power, as too much heat is created by compressing that much air with the stocker. plus boost tends to fall off in the upper RPM's. I would also recommend BNR. Bolt in simplicity, proven effective to your horsepower goals.

No. The stock turbo is good for about ~250 - 260...That's it.

For the kind of power you're looking for, a hybrid turbo is probably your best bet.

if you reallywant to be asleeper car with 300 hp stock turbo, Id say do a large street port on intake and exhaust ports and rebuild your motor with all new seals, and replace any bad parts out of spec. And upgrade largeer secondaries fuel injectors, fuel pump, bov,[stock recirculate valve leaks at high boost] boost controller and ecu[maybe microtech, or power fc.]Build a high compression fresh motor.

You mean Stage 2 or 3 with a New Turbo or with the BNR?

Only way he'll be getting 300 hp is from a BNR.

BNR is a hybrid, so they're essentially just upgraded "stock" turbos to answer the two guys above me. There's plenty of people that have used them on here, and lag really depends on your setup.

What do you mean by setup? Other Mods?

a ported motor will have a little less lag. Good tuning and a good electronic boost controller will help spool slightly. But since a hybrid turbo uses the stock turbo manifold and hotside, there is only so much you can do to improve spool.

Thanks for the tip. I will most likely use the BNR since it is easy reliable and cost efficient.

So I take it those 87-89 don't work on S5 or are the parts interchangeable?

the s4 and s5 setups are different. however you can swap the whole setup (mani, turbo).

What supporting modifications have you made?

I have a streetport,1000 cc secondaries, manual boost controller,a walbro 255, fuel cut defender, an safc and soon a FMIC. Should I be ok with these mods for the stage 3?

Right now my goal is to get it running at 110% and make sure is in good shape. Then I have to get her legal for the road. This thread was just some food for thought.

Sorry to burst your bubble:

RETed's got the highest WHP I've seen on a stock turbo, with charts as proof.

Yep he speaks the truth.

Even some of the questionable numbers made on stock turbo's are well shy of 300whp. During our tuning week when BDC was up the best TII stock turbo numbers were 250whp at 12psi on an E6X'd FC......and thats still not even 300 at the flywheel.

Mine made 228 @ 10psi on the stock turbo. I didn't push it any further since I was running 550's all around.

Stock turbo won't yield 300-320rwhp. You'll have to change turbos.
