2nd Gen Trans 3rd Gen Engine

IVE GOT A QUESTION ON A TRANS/MOTOR. I KNOW A 2ND GEN TRANS WILL BOLT UP TO A 3RD GEN MOTOR BUT THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT IVE GOT AN 88 GXL THAT IM SWAPPIMG A 3RD GEN MOTOR AN THE STOCK FLYWHEEL DOES NOT CLEAR THE BELLHOUSING OF THE N/A TRANS. DOES THE BELL HOUSING DIAMETER ON THE 2ND GENS CHANGE AT ALL FROM 88-92 ON BOTH TURBO AND N/A MODELS?

Only the T2 trannys (R-type) will fit on a third gen. The NA trannies (M-type) will not unless you change the fly wheel.

BTW, the 2nd Gen M type tranny only can hold about 200 HP and 170ft lbs, so bolting it up to a 3rd gen motor on to it is pretty much a only a temporary setup.

THE REASON I WENT WITH A REW IS BECAUSE AS FAR AS UPGRADES GO IT WAS MUCH EASIER TO FIND PARTS.
ex.- APEXI POWER FC ECU. AFTER MARKET IGNITION WAS THE BIG THING AMONG OTHER SMALLER THINGS. PLUS I GOT A PRETTY GOOD DEAL ON THE MOTOR AND IM NOT ONE TO PASS UP A DEAL WHEN I COME ACROSS ONE!

Would you have to change anything else to do the change. I have a vert. I know just about everything it will take to do the n/a to t2 conversion, but if I can just go straight to the RE..............

Everything in the N/A to TII Conversion, plus you'll need some motor mounts, and a front-mount; a standalone wouldn't hurt. (It's the consensus that the motors won't run too well w/ the factory ECU; probably due to atmospheric pressure, or octane or something)

None of you would happen to know any wiring info or print outs of ECU pins or diagrams for the 2nd and third gen would you?
