Are 2nd Gen brake Rotors the same?

Hey guys,

Are 2nd Gen Brakes all the same?
I have a friend who told me all 2nd gen 5 lug cars all share the same brakes, rotors
and pads.

I know the 4 lug base model is different though.

I just bought some 2nd gen 5 lug calipers, as I am converting
my 1st gen front brakes to 5 lug 2nd gen ones, to match my 5 lug
rear end on my 1st gen.

The problem is, when I went to the RX7store.net, I noticed it has
different part numbers for the 86-88 and 89-91 models.

Can somebody clarify this for me? I want to make sure I get the correct
rotors to match my calipers.

to my knowledge they are the same as long as you have the 4piston. if you have the single piston they are different. cause i have 89 and i put on 88 turbo brakes all around. and they work just fine. i think they are asking cause or most 89-91 have single piston front and solid read disc unless it is gtus or turboII. not sure about the convertable.

From what I see from the '89 FSM, the master cyl is same for single piston and 4 piston coupes/conv except the turbo which differs. The rear rotors are different. With single piston front disc, rears are solid, with 4 piston front, the rears are ventilated and all the same.
Naturally, the front pads also are different with the single piston, although the rotors seem to be the same. Rear dics are different, as above, but pads are the same, but different calipers. Hope this makes sense as it becomes quite confusing.

Yes - Very Confusing.

So Turbo cars and N/A Cars have different front brakes?
AND - Do they also differ between 86-88/89-91 cars?

Title updated to reflect question.

The Front brake rotors are the same for all 5 lug wheels, however the rear brake rotors are dependent on model.

The brake master cyl is dependent on model, and options.

The GXL's, TII's, GTUs, and the '88 GTU all have 4piston front calipers and vented rears. The SE's, '89-'91 GTU and coupe all had single piston fronts and solid rear discs.

Actually the 4 piston rotors are bigger. In fact both the front and rear rotors on the 4 piston/rear ventilated are bigger thean the standard single piston/solid rear.
Single piston front rotors 9.8in diameter
4 piston front rotors 10.9in diameter

Solid rear rotor 10.3in diameter
Vent. rear rotor 10.7in diameter

Yeah I forgot about the 89-90 GTU and its crappy 5 lug single piston front brakes.

I should have said that all 5 lug, 4 piston front brakes use the same brake rotors.
