2700 RPM Idle..
So, I took the RX7 out for a cruise tonight. It's my daily, but I've been driving it infrequently the last 2 weeks (about 3 times a week).
Anyways, I was driving on the highway tonight and it was boost spiking to 15psi. The boost is set via a controller to 10psi, so IMMEDIATELY I laid off the boost entirely for the rest of the drive. Then when at a stoplight I noticed that the car jumped when downshifting at slow speeds, and the idle was at 2700.
Sometimes after boosting the idle likes to stay at 1500, but this time 2700 seemed very extreme. White smoke is apparent on startup so a turbo rebuild is in order. What do you guys think?

I've had the butterflies stick so bad that I turned into my yard doing 6,000 RPM!.It was the linkage on the side of the TB preventing the Plates from closing.
You should check that, along with any thing that may hinder the opening and closing Around the TB area(like a wire hitting the linkage,etc)..and also check the Throttle cable to see if it is being hindered in any way.

Ya that'll be a good place to start for sure. I was in the cul-de-sac and the car was so obnoxiously loud, I imagine that I disrupted a few family dinners.. Oh well, they hate the RX7 anyways.
That being said, thanks for the advice, I'll have to get the wrenches turning tomorrow and get to the bottom of it. It's quite the experience trying to go through a parking lot with an idle that high.

Haha that's how I have to let it warm up. 1st gear, clutch controlling RPM's and trying at 1AM to not wake the neighbors. I must say, not having to rev-match to downshift is extremely handy and the turbo is always nice and wound up if I ever decide to step on it :p.
I'll take some pictures tomorrow of the throttle body/ cable assembly and see if that can generate any other advice.
