20mpg

Well I did a test to see what my gas mileage was...if I shifted at 3500rpms or before(before the 2ndaries kick in). I got just about exactly 20mpg. Actually better than it seemed I was getting, I guess because around here 93 is like $1.70 a gallon. Was kind of hoping for like 25mpg but I guess thats pushing it.

It's either going to be 16/19 or 19/24 depending on how you drive

I LOVED the "MPG shootout" a while back. Porches getting 30MPG was hilarious.

Talk about grannying & leaning out the cars

I get between 17 and 21:

The formula for predicting MPG is as follows

((A+B+C)*S)*E/G

Where:
A=City or Highway (city=1, Highway = 10)
B=Heavy or Light foot (heavy=1, Light=10)
C=Speed of cruising (expressed as reciprocal of MPH)
G=Gallons used
S=Seconds of Boost (in # of seconds)

E= Size of Ego (Large=1, Small = [wait a minute ---3rd gen RX-7 owners with small egos---Not bloody likely!!!!)

****This is not a real formula guys Please save electrons and refrain from pointing out the problems with the equation.*****************

I drive about a mile to work (I'm lazy like that) and get horrible mileage. Five minutes to warm up, five minutes to drive, and a few to finish warming up. I try to not go over 3k doing this, but mileage is still horrible. Not that I'm surprised or anything. I'd walk if I cared. It'd only take five more minutes too. Highway mileage is a whole other story. The most mileage I do is to go to autoX. One place I usually go to is 150miles round trip. I could easily get over 300 to a tank if it were all highway mileage. Having an opened up exhaust helped big time. Now I don't have to dip into the gas as much to get moving. If people want good mileage, get a beater to put the mileage on. Drive a sports car and accept it otherwise.

I think you need a major tuneup and need to get an egt gauge and an s-afc. I think the gas you will save will make up for the cost. Plus you'll get some new toys.

The S4 TII was rated at 17/23mpg new, so that's about right. I usually got about 21mpg average around town (some freeway/highway driving between Tampa & St. Pete), but it went below 15mpg when racing.

The S4 TII is rated for 87 octane, so there is no need for that over-priced 93 stuff.

I didn't know that. I thought that all turbo cars should run 93 octane. Oh evil have you ever tried the ATF trick yourself? Oh and what is your name, unless you like to be called evil

Just bought my 90 Vert and when I filled up I was majorly on E .... so when I filled up I put in 14.6 gallons. So I thik I was a few tenths way from being on fumes or I was driving on a prayer.
I got 272 miles outta that tank of gas ..... soI think I did pretty good 18.6 miles per gallon. That was with driving up and down steep hills and mashing the gas and Sunday driving of 120m/h with the top off and lights down.
