2 unrelated problems
Ok. I have an '87 N/A. There is one thing wrong with it, and another that kinda concerns me. The first deals with starting the motor. When it's cold, as in sitting for a long period of time, it floods. I warmed the motor up, turned it off, and started it right back up. It started with no problems. Any ideas for why it only floods when the motor is cold?
The other issue is that I went to the local Mazda dealership today to pick up a new oil filter. This filter came with a washer which looks like it'll go on the oil filter pedastal. The last filter I bought from the same place did not come with the washer. Could that be causing an oil leak from the oil filter?
Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

What do you mean by crush washer? It's a small washer, looks like it's made of copper. And it fits right in the opening of the oil filter.

An oil leak at the filter is probably the oil filter pedastol O rings. Replace them, and the heater hose directly below the oil filter if the oil filter pedistol is leaking.

I know Icemark is gonna hate me for saying this but do you know the tale of the "fuel cutoff switch", the flooding band-aid ?

The motor was put in this past February. The injectors, however, are from the last motor. I'd rather not use the fuel cutoff switch if at all possible. I'd rather just fix it the right way. I'm changing the oil today. It's running with 10w-30 right now. I'm gonna switch to 20w-50 since it's been warming up here. Will that have any affect on anything?

have you done a compression check???
Don't bump this again without doing a compression check and listing what you got on all the rotor faces
