2 INCH piping
well i could only get my hands on 2in. piping for my single exhaust i am making but seeing i couldnt get my original idea of 2.5 in. piping for a single i am going to go the dual route? 2in. stainless steel piping what do u think this will do for my engine? i have an apc filter and a pacesetter header which i dont like right now but all in all thatz about it and i will have it going to 2 dynomax turbo mufflers i think its turbo im not sure well thanks ahead of time for the insight

I wouldn't use the turbo mufflers. They probably will not last to long. Borla makes some good mufflers that are stainless outside with stainless steelwool packing. As long as you run true duals you should be ok but if the exhaust is collected into a single pipe that will be to small for good high rpm power. It will work at lower rpm but you may loose some higher up.

Before my '88 n/a became the turbo monster it is now, I tried several different exhaust configurations. Anything was better than the stock setup. I had a true dual exhaust made out of 2" pipe with no presilencers through 2 Dynomax superturbo mufflers. It had the most power of any combo I tried. The lowend torque was crazy. It pulled everywhere in the powerband. I didn't blow up the mufflers but I only had that setup for a few months before I pulled the engine. It was DAMN loud! The major downside was it sounded terrible. The car sounded like a one rotor...or in this case 2 one rotors. No it doesn't sound like an RX-7 anymore. It sounds like a dying motor with no compression. Those of you who have heard it know what I'm talking about. The collected exhaust with a header and the same mufflers sounded awesome but still loud. Power may have been slightly higher at the very top of the RPM range but it was hard to tell since the dual setup had TONS more low/midrange power.

True duals wouldn't happen in the first place anyhow, since that header is collected. Running a single 2'' back to a Y pipe might give a little power, but mostly just from losing the converters. I don't think 2'' is much bigger than stock.

I had the aux ports disabled on my car. I pulled the sleeves out and put an epoxy radius in them so the air would flow better. The actuator rods were also removed from the manifold. There was a loss of lowend torque (we have so little to begin with) but the improvement on the topend was noticable. This is only because of the radius in the sleeves. The sleeves had to be epoxied in since the engine will just turn them shut and leave them there. Removing the control rods also permits much more flow through the top ports. If you have the manifold off look at the size of the port runners and then look at the size of the actuator rods. Big improvement by taking them out. I had no air pump, and 550 cc secondary injectors from a T-II with a 3rd gen fuel pump. Fantastic top end. With no internal engine work it ran right with my friends stock '89 T-II. I still have the header, leftover 2" piping, and a spare 3rd gen fuel pump if you want any of them. I even have 2 of the superturbo mufflers brand new (not the ones on the car) in the boxes if you have a need for any of them. A single 2" pipe is way too restrictive. It will be very noticable when you upgrade.
