2 Day old Clutch Problems

Well, My car broke at my work last week and I had a new clutch put in.

When it broke it would only run while in neutral.
If I tried to start it in gear it would lurch forward.

So the clutch was constantly engaged.

I got it back from the shop, but was unable to get it running due to electrical problems which are now fixed.

Now I started the car and it will run in neutral only again.

It will lurch forward if I try it in gear.
If I start in neutral and try to put it in gear it won't go in gear without Force which will probabaly break something.

If I try to put it in reverse while running it will grind.

I have messed with the pedal piston on the clutch pedal but it still does not disengage enough.

Any Ideas? They replaced Clutch Plate, puck, bearings.
They weren't able to test it running cause it wouldn't turn over there.

Any help is appreciated. I gotta work tomorrow and so far don't have way to get there.

hmmm...this is just a shoot in the dark, but I had the problem. The only reason I dont think its it, b/c its the same symptoms as before right? I didnt put anti sieze on my input shaft/clutch splines, so it woudl catch, and make it so I couldnt go into any gear, and when I started it with the clutch in in say 1st it would lunge forward. Also wouldnt go into any gear while running. My guru ASE master certifed friend, told me a "trick", put it in 4th gear with the car off, crank it, it would pop (splines are now not caught) and it would work fine. I had to do this about 5 times, now its been 4+ monts and its never thought about doing it. This is all assuming that you can shift freely with the car off, if not, then I'd look into tranmission problems not clutch problems.

Uh, that is weird man. What did the shop say? I believe your supposed to put hi temp grease on the input shaft. But not to much. Dont want it to sling outwards and work its way to the clutch matter.

I ALWAYS (with the exception of my error, it was 2am, and winter in Washington, in a un-heated garage. On top of that the radio played system of a down, chop suey damn near 10 times in an hour, I coulda died) put anit-sieze on the splines, lithium based grease on the throw bearing, pilot bearing. clutch fork in certain spots. I'm sure it wouldnt hurt to put lithuim on the splines..and yes, putting loads of it on there lossely, I wouldnt reccommend either.

I'm wondering if you have enough clutch line fluid and is the system bled? Do you know for certain that it does not have a leak? Your post does not mention the clutch hydraulic fluid reservoir level.

The level was to the top. I have looked at the Slave as my dad pushed the clutch in and it moved the piston on the side of the tranny about 1 inch.

I currently have a oil leak somewhere in the engine bay so it's a little hard to spot a new one. Although I followed the line to the tranny and it all looked good.

I had another car that did this before, and it ended up being the slave cylinder. Have someone pump the clutch a few times while watching it. If you see anything coming out of there, then that's your problem.
