2 cycle mix gas
I heard from a friend that if your external oil pump goes out, you can mix 2 cycle oil into your fuel to incorporate for the loss of lubrication.
He also says to use 93 octane when doing so...
Does anybody know the ratios? Or if this is even helping any?

If you have a bad omp, and its not working at all(hard to believe on a s4) the typical rate is .5-1oz per gallon. Don't do like me, I put way to much in all the time. On a S5 its a bit of a pita to get rid of the pump.
Yes it does help if your omp goes out, really its your only other option(besides replacing the bad pump).

There's been a lot of discussion about premix with a functioning OMP. There are opinions both ways. However if you have a functioning OMP and still choose to add half an ounce of 2 stroke oil per gal of gas, you won't be hurting anything. Use 2 stroke that's rated TCW3. As for the octane question, if you have a turbo RX7 then you will benefit from 91 octane. For an N/A, anything over 87 and you're wasting money. They are designed (and recommended) to run on low octane fuel.

Search "premix" and check the archives.

I will be adding this to the FAQ soon as it's asked 10,000 times a week. For some reason it's not already there...
