Is it a K or L VIN? I'm one of the lucky 100 with a 1990 L VIN

AC was a factory option for GTUs, sunroof was not.
That is a clean GTUs!

How do you tell? It has the 160 cluster, manual interior, and all the other goodies a GTUs has. Is there something I missed?

All series 5 have 160MPH cluster.

Look for a 205-55-16 tire size on the door sticker, either a L or a K as the 10th VIN digit, no sunroof (unless dealer or aftermarket added), Jack the rear up and spin the wheels ( should take 4.3 turns of the wheel to turn the drive shaft one turn and vise versa, plus both sides will turn the same direction showing it is limited slip.) GTU model had nearly the same interior, but GTUs had unique seats like mine. Also 4 piston front brakes.

Nice to have more rotaries in the Reno/Tahoe area. Driving the roads up around the lake will require your cooling system to be in tip-top shape. My '93 will start to get hot when stuck behind the summer tourists driving 25 MPH up Mt Rose. And this is a car built for running cool at the Fernley Raceway (RIP).

Thread update:

There was only 100 possible GTUs models created between 1989 and 1991. Over 31 years later there have not even been sightings of the 100 made. These links have all information released by Mazda and all other magazine, book and video publications that promoted the sales of mazda. No rumors, only what was actually released by Mazda and all original and authentic prints shown.

If you own one of these rare models sign your car up to the registry list here on any of the rotary forums!

There are rumors about a restamped GTUs model...
If you want the full story behind the restamped models:
