1989 RX7 GT-X Clutch Questions....

I have a 1989 RX7 GT-X and it seriously needs a clutch.... it runs 13psi from what i'm told and the current clutch is non-existant, if i floor it in 1st or 2nd it will eventually grab but surges and the clutch smells like an out-house.... literally....

anyways, i have a stock clutch and pressure plate and wondered if i install this one, will it hold and last a decent bit or should i just scrounge up some cash and upgrade the clutch, i need some advice asap because i have shops i need to call, i was quoted $260.00 canadian to install them and resurface my flywheel, so i just need to ask all of your advices!...

you have an unsprung? that is what i have in my car right now, but I havnt driven it yet, still rewiring some stuff. how long did it take for you to get used to? how harsh is it on the tranny? and do you have to rev match when downshifting? LMK thx

it took a week or two for me to get used to it. If you shift right it will not damage your tranny at all, the only problem i've had have been on hills where you must take off slowly(either in first or reverse) and you don't have to revmatch to downshift but I made a habit of doing it all the time. you can hear/feel the harshness of it when you are feathering it when backing out of a parking spot in an incline.....that's about it.

what about going to something like a 4 puck sprung disc...I spoke with racing beat and they said that the stock pressure plate would have no problem holding that...and since I already have a pretty good pressure plate here...is that a viable option?
