Talking 1988 GXL 78k org *brag

my friend has a 88 gxl full exh rb header, stock ports , hks intake
today we just removed all belts besides alt/water pump removed air pump avc vavle put block off plate and removed cat and wired open ports OMG what a power differnce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it had alot of power before and now,
we knew it added power but had no clue what it would really do
white on blue int super clean just bragin for those of you thinking of this mod...go out and do it! no power loss in low rpms..as said from wired open ports...maybe less gas milage...to little to notice

I suspect that your friend didn't have working aux ports before, because removing the power steering, air conditioning, and air pump is not enough HP change to even notice.

Fix the aux ports so they are working correctly and see what the car can really do

I agree with the above, I myself have a 88 GXL also and my car before the motor change pulled very hard with 170k miles on the orignal motor with working 6 ports. But since the motor decided to finally give up and now that I got a S5 motor with intake manifold with open 6 ports a VDi and fuel added in to make up for them I doing 149 hp to the wheels on a catback exhaust with stock header with a smooth torque curve and horsepower curve, planning to redyno it one i get my hands on my RB race header that should be here as soon as my cousin brings it up from florida and I redo my exhaust with true duals.

btw the aux ports were working before...split tube from airpump to activate
but removing the air pump and taking off all belts besides alt/water pump did more than i imagined with wired open aux ports

Not on a 88, unless you rigged something up.

And if they were working, wiring them open, would result in lost HP. Not any gains.

So I am gonna call BS on your whole thread

well we put on the straight pipe with air pump actavating the 5th and 6th ports
keeping all belts...little more power than we removed the airpump closed off the avc and removed all belts besides, alt/waterpump/fan and than wired aux ports open because than we had no way of opending the aux ports via...pump or exh back pessure...mark so you are saying if we bought something to open them when there soppose to 3,800? we would even have more power than now? ive seen someone on here selling a rpm switch acvavating auxc ports..for like 100.00
? iam trying to learn dont call my thread bs help and explain =D thanks
and iam having trouble with my 88 vert's 2ndary injectors could you help? send me a pm thanks mark
