1988 13B N/A to a 1989 13 tII JDM

alright this site shows tons of stuff and i am greatful

i am actually getting a front end clip and with a standalone ECU

my question is:

I will get teh engine hardness off the 1989 and hook it up to the standalone ECU
now does the engine harness get the power from the ECU?!..and if so then where does the ECU get the power from..the fuse box or the dash harness..

i got everything else from theis website and nopistons.com and i am getting my motor from a JDM website..its good

thanks

well since your swapping the series youll need to change a few things

1989-1992=series 5

1986-1988=series 4

since s5 is all electrical youll need to change the omp, front cover, throttle body, water pump, housing, thermostat, get allnew seals gaskets for your "jdm" engine.

-unless you want to run premix then just keep everything, but hey who wants to add oil when there gasing up

ummm youll need to change the drive shaft or its beter to change the whole rear differential, big money

youll also need to change the ecu, i forget if you said your going stand alone, but youll need to splice a few wires. i have a page saved that shows which wires to splice but i gotta find it, if you dont go stand alone just google the model ecu that came in the series turbo engine, i bought a n332 ecu for 70 bucks on ebay.

if you need any advice im right in the middle of my swap, so you can PM me if you want, im gonna start a thread soon that tels you exactly what to do with pics for this kind of swap since i havent seen any and so many people ask about it..

but if i could go back, i would keep the same series engine, saves alot of time, gripe, and money, but hey its all fun

if you get a stand alone you are going to have to make the wire harness. you will need to solder in the clips you need and stuff unless you buy one used that someone has already made. you dont use the stock wire harness. if you get the turbo drive shaft you will need the turbo rear end and axels. i hope you are prepared to spend a good amount of money.

you need a custom drive shaft to mate the t2 tranny to NA rear end. mazdatrix sells them.
