1987 FC RX-7 GXL Wont Idle
1987 FC RX-7 GXL Wont Idle
Here’s the series of events that probably outline this issue:
When installing a racingbeat exhaust almost a year ago, we broke the rear actuator but left it since we knew it wasn’t detrimental.
Fast forward to now, we wanted that little bit of power we were losing just to make sure everything was running better and how it’s supposed to.
To do this i had to disconnect and remove the upper intake manifold, and then remove the lower manifold. We put on a new actuator, and cleaned the sleeves, and for sure they work great. We finished putting everything back together today, and we go to startup. (I need to note this because im unsure if this could be causing the issue, there’s a hose that connects to the rear housing i believe that feeds coolant through some routing on the dynamic chamber, and when removing it, it was screwed. So we ordered a new one and installed it. Issue is, it spewed coolant everywhere and we lost a lot but got it back on) When we turn it over it doesn’t idle at all. We give it gas and it revs, but no luck on keeping it idling. We checked the maf, and this could be broken because when removing everything i unscrewed the connecting circuit not realizing what it was and it made some unhappy noises but we checked and it looked fine, so i dont think its that either. I made sure everything was connected and we checked and made sure it wasnt the 02 sensor as well. Im honestly so unsure as to what this could be, we’re gonna take it apart again tomorrow and see if there was anything we forgot, but if anyone has any ideas or could point us in the right direction anything would be appreciated. This next run through is going to be super methodical. (When we checked the little white tub in the front, after trying to start everything, there is basically no coolant mixture in it. It’s below the low line. Could this be causing our issue?) if anyone pictures need to be sent let me know. Thanks!
