1500RPM warm-up popping?????

During start up...
-3000RPM (few seconds)
-1500RPM (15 seconds)
Then it starts to popping. When the car is full warmed up. It drops to 750rpms and idles perfectly.

Then, my fast idle cam get stuck @ 1000rpms if I tap it (then the popping starts again), then it drops again to 750 rpms.

I know my fast idle has probs...but, that popping during the 1500rpm is annoying!!!!

I believe it might be my fuel injectors. They have around 138K miles on them. I know it is not my TPS. I had chkd it every weekend and it is perfectly set.

Does anyone have ANY input!

Mine does something similar. Popping might be afterburn? There's some valve or something that wears out over time. Check Ted's site.

If it sounds like Mazda's making popcorn in your cats, welcome to the wonderful world of afterburn. Some cars have it, some don't, there's no real inexpensive way to fix it. It's just unspent fuel from the idling process(which happens to run pretty rich) backfiring in your exhaust. It's nothing serious(as far as I know) and I wouldn't worry about it. My car has it too, but after a Haltech, it'll go away. This would be a great excuse to get a Haltech in fact! Just tell the wife: "But honey! My car has AFTERBURN! I NEEED a $1300 stand alone engine fuel management system!"
