13b rew...worth it???

would it really be worth the trouble and the money to do a 13b rew swap into an fc?? i ve heard alot of different opinions from everyone on this matter. ive also heard that in order to do so i would have to use a single turbo set up and a stand alone along with a set of custom mounts. the mounts i know are needed. and also would i have to use the rest of the drivetrain from an fd as well or would i be bale to use a t2 drivetrain? any help would be great. thanks

It's nice having someone with all the links around... one line to answer a common question.

Well my personal opinion is that you can get some really nice numbers as far as RWHP is concerned on your Turbo II wheter it be a S4 or S5 block. For EG: a S4/S5 block with a nice street port, "The size of the street port you decide to do is at your discretion"., a nice sized turbo lets say a 60-1 with a properly sized A/R housing
designed for the rotary using a standalone such as a Microtech or a Haltech or whatever you would like tö use ""Again this is your preference"". Of course with a appropiate F. Pump for a T-II along with injectors, fuel rails, FMIC, etc, etc, etc,. With this setup you can run high to mid 11's which equals 370-380 RWHP on the street @ 14 PSI Max which is about the efficency of that sized Turbo. My friend is that fast enough for you ??? A friend of mine was running that same setup that I just mentioned above, "BUT" the only difference is that his setup was a Holley 650 Double Pumper with a Blow Through box. The car on the street is a monster, we would line up all the 5. SLOWs, and smoke the **** out of them including the Cobra Super charged, and non Supercharged serpents. You gotta love the look on there face when you smoke the **** out of them, and there like WTF ??? Rotary Power baby.

What's the purpose of this swap...I'm not a turbo man, but still I'd just stick with a TII car instead. I can understand the internals of the 13B REW but as far as going through the entire thing I think it MIGHT be better to stick with the TII.

Read the info on Ted's page, including Paul Ko's comparison of the two engines. You need to weigh up the additional costs of the newer engine with your long-term goals. It's common sense when planning a modified engine to look for the best base engine to build on, but if your goals are fairly mild then it may not be worth the extra money, time and effort. If you are planning on getting fairly serious then the changes made to the newer engine to increase power and reliability will make your goals a little easier to achieve.

Don't forget the JC Cosmo's 13B-REW, which is easier to put in due to having a similar mounting set-up to the FC and is generally considered a better base to start with.
