ok i am gonna try an desidn a cross brace for the rew to sit on along with its mount but I do want it to look good so here is my plan. BTW I havnt even seen the way the rew bolts to its mounts in the stock location Any body with a pic please send it to me or post it here.
Ok i know this is gonna be wrong from the get go but for some reason I feel compled to tell you guys Anyways. I want to build basically a cradle for the motor to sit in. Basically using some chromoly round bar and flat 1/4 in plate steel or what ever is best is try to build this.

if this would work it would serve two functions. The first a soild platform that you would not have to worry about warping bending or flexing. 2 it would tie the unibody chassis together makeing the fron end stiffer. Does this seem like a good idea or just a dream,

i can assure you the centre plate does go in,rear plate bolt holes do need welding and drilling/tapping and you still need the s4 type timing cover and cas i can assure you of this because i have done it,
maybe with all this knowledge you can listen to what they say,or at least listen to peoples ideas without flying into one of your rants about how it cant be done because you say so

Ok, what type of turbo are you using again? You said just a big single turbo? A T88, T91, T66, R85, which kind? Do you know the costs of doing a single turbo swap on a car that was meant for twin turbos? Figure in fuel rails, fpr, fuel lines, injectors, etc.
It is an expensive swap, but good luck though. And you are probably better off doing a TII swap, because it is less fabrication needed for it.

ok first off. Im am 19 yrs old and dont have a real steady income this project is gonna take me a while to complete. I am a mechanic (not the best in the world I took diesel). I am thinking about keeping the stock twin twin turbo set up. But right now my main concern is designing a mounting system. I put up one of my Ideas for it but havny heard Anything about it yet. i know this is expensive and it is gonna take a while but if i take my time and do it step by step then the finished product will look good and also be more reliable.

It was a couple of hours and a $20 piece of flat iron and the 13B-REW dropped right in.
I dunno if you would call it "hard", but there's a lot of other stuff that I would call a lot more difficult than that.

This still confuses me though. You may be able to turn a wrench, but have you ever wired up an ECU meant for an FD into an FC? You will still need an aftermarket ECU.
I do wish you luck, believe me, but they are expensive swaps. I will be swapping a 13b-RE into a 84 GSL-SE in the LATE future. I know the costs, and I know my budget limits. I already know what will be used also as far as ECU, turbo, and engine wise. All of the fuel rails, injectors, fpr, dp, wg, etc. comes along later. I am in the same exact boat as you, I was just trying to make sense of this and help you along somehow.

well sadly this project must end before it accually begins. I am in a huge fix and have to sell both of my cars and put this project to and end for a later date. I will do this project but i am having huge financial problems right now. So if any body needs a good shell its up for sale in the forsale section. I hope that i havnt wasted anybodys time. I am interested in still doing the swap but like I said my own well being and the well being of my family comes before any car. I have learned a ton and will keep at this I may just purchase a motor that i can prep to do the swap. But that will be at a much later date. Sorry to disapoint but I have to do what I have to do.

I just am now seeing your post and will book mark it . Im doing the exact same thing . I just picked up a FD motor and have a 90 GTU just sitting around . I also have a Wolf 3 D in another car with an extra wirring harness . I am looking for motor mounts now and think I just found a set . I;ll keep looking in to see how you are doing . Im not getting started for atleast a month .
