i have a great rural area like 5 minutes from my house with massive and extremely smooth straights and has awesome turns. 90 degrees, wide hairpins, double apex turns. we dont even need a track. and cops are nowhere to be found ever. we are very lucky.

I just did 120 mph in 4th gear at 6800 R's I was very impressed and wanted to hit fifth and go for it but was scared..

it was a stable ride just still afraid of running into a cop at that speed on the highway

btw this was done last week in my 86' n/t 5spd

Im the same way. I have at least 4 different excellent country roads I can take within 3 miles of my house, and few more that are even better about 20 miles away. One is even on the way to the dragstrip! That said, I hit the rev limmiter (7800 in my car) in 4th which was over 145 on the speedo, which I figure is good for close to 135 actual speed. This was done with windows down and headlights up on a slight incline. It never could do anything in 5th gear, though. For those bitching about safety, it was on a deserted section of newly paved and lighted 4-lane highway at 3 AM with no cars around. Even at those speeds, it was more stable than any other car Ive driven at any speeds (around the city included).
The PO ran it at TWS in College Station and had it radar clocked at 131. Not bad for an non-turbo with 190k on the clock and no power adders except an exhaust and cone filter (not CAI).

the car is very stable. my rear struts are almost shot and bouncy as hell and it is still one of the most stable cars ive ever driven. it also suprisingly in downforce test it produces more than enough to keep it stuck to the ground. dont be pussies. youe going in a straioght line on a deserted country road. just doint do it at night. hard to judge distances and dont forget about those pesky deer. yuck.

well this is a pretty old thread but i thought id share my story.

well me and a few friends were out at this car show in the middle of nowhere alabama. it was about 1130 ish when we left and hopped on the interstate 459 to be exact and my friend decided he wanted to test me so he passes me goin about 110 and i laughed downshifted to 4th goin 90 ish maybe less....the next time i looked up i was goin about 130 and passed him like he was sitting still... were still about 30 min away from my house so im cruising at about 120 ish and i slowed down for a slow right hand turn when i saw a huge flash of blue and white......the damn state trooper got me at 101 in a 70..wrote it up as reckless driving... well i get to court and i sweet talk the judge he lowered the ticket to speeding and i got driving school....the shitty part about the whole thing is that i found out a few days later he was later fired for refusing to take a drug test

since this is now a speed/***** post im at 167mph in 5th gear in a t2 just about to hit rev limiter.. 225 45 17s..... calculated by gearing and tire sizes

My story....I95 north about 15 cars....we all floor it in succession ....I buried the speedo by the end of fifth gear. No clue how fast I was going, no GPS..sorry. Closest car to me was a Mazdaspeed protege and he said that he let off after 150. At the time I was running a JDM TII Motor, tranny, ecu, about 9lbs of boost, Coilovers and stock tires....

Scared the **** out of me...the *** end on the car felt like a lap dance at the strip club....left-right-up-down...repeat....will never ever do that again without better aerodynamics and suspension and closed road where FHP cant screw me...

i just drove a BMW 528i from san diego to chico(10hrs there 12hrs back)...


that little straight 6 aint packin that much, but damn, nicest ride ever.

I did 120 on a cold winter night with the top down on my S5 vert and a million stars all around.

Beautiful. It made me think about God, then I realized I didn't want to meet him just at that moment and slowed my *** down.

Probably all she would do, but the wind buffetting was not bad at all with the windows up and the wind deflector up. Car was very stable.

i hit 90 and i realized "**** i need an alightment" i didnt go higher for fear of ending up part of the guardrail

I did 120mph maybe 4 or 5 times in my t2 when it was cone filter and downpipe only
did 130mph in it w/ same mods once. was fun until i saw the cop and did 130-80 in a ninja-like fashion. had stock springs/shocks which were kinda crappy, and felt fiine at 120-130.
very stupid, but oh well. i am node after all
