Thumbs up 12a side housings on 13b

i heard a few guys around here using 12a side housings on 13b rotor housings to convert it to a 4 port configuration. i spoke with a friend about it and was told it wouldnt work because the coolant grooves are in different locations, just yesterday i spoke to kilo of kilo racing[who works on jesus padilla almotor rx7 9.94 quarter] and he told me to go for it i'm not sure who to listen to so i'm trying to see if this could be a low budget alternative instead of buying T2 side housings.

the 12a housings are not nitrite treated, i wouldn't suggest using them.

If you use 84-85 Gsl-se rotor
housings with 12a side housings
it will work, or if you can get 1970's
13b rotor housings that will work too.

Coolant seals are on the rotor housings for 12A engines. 86 and up 13B engines have coolant seals on the irons. So yeah, BGH lists the combo setup you should look for. GSL-SE rotor housings will be difficult to locate in good condition. So I suggest just getting TII irons. They are not difficult at all to track down and much more plentiful.

Nope high 9's is his record, it was shattered by Skunk racing team at the end of the season.

Mazdatrix offers a 13b custom rebuild
with 12a side housings. This makes
a real good 13b 4 port sice you can do
a lot of porting on 12a side housings.
