12a 4 port irons on na s4
Okay,
I may be horrible at using the search... I've found bits and pieces of the information that I need but not all of it.
Basically, I recently purchased an '86 GXL. I have an '84 GSL collecting dust in my yard that ran pretty strong before it stopped being used. I've heard benefits of using the 4 port design instead of 6 port especially if bridge porting like I plan to do. Basically my goal is this:
Keep this an all motor project
Do a half bridge port
Carb the motor instead of EFI
Question is... what is needed to do this (if it can be done). This being put the 12a irons on the 13b housings. I've heard it's pretty much bolt on (as far as bolt on can be when rebuilding) just looking for more info. Also what exactly are the benefits / downsides to this? I'm assuming less low end torque but more high end gain.
Thank you in advance,
******

Not gonna happen.
Coolant O-ring grooves are on the aluminum rotor housings on S3 and earlier engines. On the irons on S4 and up engines.
Look for a S4 or S5 turbo engine if you're trying to make a 4 port.

Yes after looking into it further after this was posted I guess I was mistaken. Looks like it was the 1st gen 13b I was thinking of.
The 4 port thing wasn't a HUGE deal to me... just seemed convenient that I had the old 12a sittin' already already.
