As for rarity. It's kinda weird that I know more people with 10 AE's then regular TII's

I know 2 working ones down in Tucson and then another 13brew conversion not running yet down the street.

I think I know 1 person with a regular TII.

I'd go with an AE if they were both S4's. I want a black interior. If it's a S5 then it's hard. I hate the damn seatbelt things of S5's but the exterioir looks better.

I guess if you want the rarity...I was thinking more of money savings....1K bux is alot.....that is even without haggling, he could save up to 1500 if he went with the TII and if he haggled for a bit.

both very good points. i think this just made the decision harder lol.. although there are a lot of 10ae votes, TII is cheaper and the money i save could make the car not too shabby.

Checking in.

IMO $1,000 CAN ($755 USD) isn't much money at all, so I would get the 10AE if the car is in good shape. However, I understand that this amount of money is more to you guys that are in high school or college, so it would depend on your particular opinion whether or not the 10AE or TII is a better deal. It also depends on what you want to do with the car. If the car is going to be stripped for racing, for example, there is no point in paying more for the 10AE that is mechanically the same as the TII. The 10AE has absolutely no collector value at this time, so do not take that into account.

More important than the price difference between the two is the actual price of each. For example, if the asking prices are $10,000 CAN for the TII and $11,000 CAN for the 10AE, then I would suggest passing on both.

I would say buy the AE and mod the hell out of it. Although there were only 1500 made and around 400 in existance, they are really not that much of a commodity. It is just a TII with badges and a white paint job. They don't bring any more than an 88 TII. I have one and I am not letting the AE mistique from getting in the way of having a really great car that handles and runs great!!!!

This is definately my territory. Buy the 10AE... Hopefully you'll appreciate it a lot more since it is an extremely rare car, like I have. They really are beautiful cars.

is there any place with a general price guide for these cars (FC's). i checked kbb but iono just wanted to know if there was any where else.
thanks

btw- for anyone curious

TII: $4490 180 000 kms or about 112 000 mil. looks alright from pics, havent checked it out in person yet. looks a bit dull.

10AE: $5600 154 000 kms or about 96 000 mil. needs some work outside. also havent seen but from pics i'd say about same or a bit better than the TII.

What color is the interior on the TII?

I personally LOVE my 10th AE Interior, matching body moldings, wing(not all S4 TII's have wings) and taillights.

I say 10th

All AE's came with black interior. Speaking of the tails, the AE taillights look so much better than the stock S4 lights. Painting the housings and then that one white horizontal stripe through the light really looks good. The AE tails look better than the S5 tails, IMO.

yeah I don't know how rare 10ae are. I think they said 1500 but messed up on the the number putting not enough zeros on there. There is probably more like 15000.

I'd go with the AE for the only reason being a Anniversary Edition. They are a small and selected few left. You'll have to live with It being White though. Unless, of course, you elect to paint It otherwise.

I didn't care for white cars until I got my AE. It makes other cars look almost gray, it's so bright white.

Umm...no. There were 1,500 10AEs produced. Take into account that that was back in 1988 and inevitably some have been totalled/scrapped/etc.....yeah. Definitely a rare car.

Hence the reason I have two.

No kidding...

I hated white cars because they got too dirty too quick. But with mine, even if it's dirty it still shines white. Personally, I think white turns heads a lot more than other 'fast colors' like yellow and red.

Everyone is saying get it because its so rare....Even though its rare it shouldn't pull in any more value than a normal TII, so whats the point? My kind of *** hair may be more rare than yours, but doesn't mean anyones going to buy my *** hair....(ok, really bad example). Your paying $1000 extra for the AE name, and your not really even getting anything extra. I think you should get the car based on what you see when you take a look at them, and which one is in better shape.

I would pay a little extra for a black leather interior... Heck, I even have a spare full black interior from when I had my '87 TII with blue interior. But thats just me, I can't really stand red or blue. Gray is ok.

But otherwise, I would agree with you, just get whichever is in better shape unless someone wants to restore a 10th Anniversary.
