Engine misses alot during warmup

I have a 88 n/a vert. When I first start it up in the morning it does the normal procedure - revs up to about 3000 rpm and slowly drops down after a few minutes. No problem with that. It's after that when the engine starts running really rough and gives off some bad fumes from the exhaust. After a couple of more minutes as it approaches normal operating temp it runs fine. It's had a tuneup last spring and the TPS is only a year old and I've checked and adjusted it so I don't think thats the problem...I'm stumped, any ideas?

check timing, and when you got the tune-up.. are you sure you got the right plugs, and that they are in the right position?

i have the same problem i did a tune up but didn't change my spark plugs i only changed the oil and oil filter i didn't know the viscosity of the older oil and i figured this car runs pretty hot so i made it 20w-50 and when i did that it started to smoke alot during warm up when it revs up. but after it warms up it goes back to normal. another thing i noticed sometimes mines doesn't even rev up on it's own on cold mornings
