10 second car!!

I have the option of getting an 95+ integra or a 94+ 240sx (ga engine). Which car do you think i should get? Im lookin to put a t3/4 hybrid on there along with everything else, intercooler ecu, fuel etc... Im trying to build a 10 second car. Possible with an integra? (I ask integra because theyre more readily available where i am.) Which would be easier and cheaper, and be more reliable to build up to a 10 second car. Anything goes-turbo, nos, etc... The reason im getting a new ride is because the 7 that i bought for 500 bucks i just sold for 5,000. Put a shitload of work into it too. Sorry to see it go . But any help on this subject would be great! Thanks!

A 10 second import is not cheap.
A 10 second FWD import is even more expensive.
A 10 second FWD NON-TURBO LOW DISPLACMENT import has got to be the worst car to build into a 10 second street car.

nothing to do wiht 2nd gens...just that the rotary crowd is some of the most experienced and trusted crowd out there...ive visited some honda/acura forums and all they talk about is the new stickers they got on their cars....no lie. So you would go with the integra? I forgot that was front wheel drive....any other suggestions for cars that are imports...relatively cheap to buy initially and can be made into a 10 second car? Im needing some help here guys! last post and then ill move to the lounge...sorry

if you want a fast semi-cheap import
here would be my choices
-MKIII Supra Turbo (heavy, but powerful, has 80s luxury)
-Turbo II RX-7 (light, nimble, good potential, but be careful tuning it)
-DSM AWD Turbo (I hate these cars, but you might not)
-240SX (89-98, just be ready to buy a silvia front clip and slap in that SR20DET unless you want a slow 2.4 N/A )
300Z Turbo (z31) Same as supra pretty much, good power, but on the heavier side

If its gonna be fast, cheap and reliable, I'd go for the MKIII Supra Turbo if I wasn't so much of a rotorhead.

And go w/ turbo upgrades, engine upgrades (silly boinger stuff) and tuning. Don't worry about nitrous, you shouldn't have to use it...

And to be honest, if you forgot an integra was FWD, you don't need a 10 second car
Just get a car that you like, and can see you working on, and just upgrade it as you go, it only more expensive and faster (until you crash).
And that brings up another subject, get a 4 (or 6) point rollcage and some 5 pt harnesses if you want that fast of a car, and some good life insurance

an talon 4wd turbo is a nice car to build up a friend did it and it flew.
a miata with a 13b TT in it would be nice.
but personally it takes alot of $$ to get a car to go 10's
pettit racing has a 20b rx7 with a 20b TT in it all decked out and it will run the 1/4 in about 10.51 if i am correct. i talked to a guy that owns the bonzi who works for petti and he said it cost about 120k to build the car. but look at it this way. what you put into a car you will never get back out of it. if you put 35k into a (lets just say for instance) a civic. when you would go to sell it you might only get 20k for it max. think about what car holds its value. you dont want to by a car and start going into debt and not being able to get your self out. just think before you do n e thing. be smart and just buy a stock TII and gradually fix it up.

You want to build a 10 second import car and you don't know what to get? Sounds like you have more money than sense

Integra - NO. Wait a sec, FWD import - NO. I'd go with the hennesy viper - they warranty it.

10 sec import forget it not unless your heavily sponcered!!

if you want to do 10 seconds in a 1/4 mile buy a F*cking Mustang not an import SERIOUSLY
if you worried about the time slip dont even bother

Build a first gen... Tubbed, Bridgeported 13B w/ a big shot of nitrous and some fuel. Someone around here has an RX-3 into the 9s with only like $5k into the car like this.

I don't know what the fastest 240sx is but I like those cars and like them alot more than the FWD integra. If you have money for the engine swap, turbo upgrade, and some engine work you might get your 1/4 mile time down pretty low.

He's probably building it because he owes someone a 10 second car.

sr20det's can get around 400rwhp i believe. Not sure about that number though, but its somewhere around there before you have to put big money into just reinforcing the engine and not for boltons

i've seen sr20's with a lot more than 400 hp, especially with the right setup, its easy(but always expensive) to acheive high horsepower numbers in an SR20DET

didnt mean to start sounding like im trying to immitate the fast and the furious...i was just wondering what the next car i buy should be that can move. I was thinking more along the lines of what cars CAN eventually make it to 10 seconds...sorry for the misunderstanding. In reality im looking for high 12s or low 13s. Sorry to sound so ignorant guys.

Well, you are in the right forum then. Get a TII and build it, high 12s low 13s shouldn't be a problem.

Anything can be made fast. Just depends on how much money you throw at it.

if i rember correctly (dont feel like scrolliing to top of this thread) you said you got 5k for selling your 7? i KNOW you can find a TII with a blown motor for less than 2k, that gives you atleast 3k to rebuild the motor and start modding

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to make an import a 10 second car??? Go but a early 90's Mustang 5.0, put a big *** blower on it, some slicks, headers, etc.. Probably can have a 10 second car for less that $10k. Im not against making imports fast or anything, but for a 10 second car on a budget.....its just stupid.
