10 second car!!

If you want a cheap import that will haul *** in the 1/4 mile I would suggest a late 80's turbo supra. Make sure it has the 7M-GTE engine. Go through the enternals of the engine, beef them up. Slap a huge *** turbo and intercooler in it, upgrade fuel delivery, heafty clutch, ect... This car will haul *** with torque like you can't get from a 4 banger. This could all be don't for around $8K.

Or if you want an RX-7 with big power and don't mind getting a little dirty.... you can have one that runs 10's for well under $10K.
http://www.v8rx7.com check out the forums and visitor section for what others have transplanted into the RX-7.
A stock V8 in any RX-7 will run 12's. A slightly modded V8 will do 11's. Slap on a 100hp shot of NOS and you have 10's on a cheap budget.
Any FWD or 4cyl RWD car is going to cost a lot to go fast. I mean faster than 13's. Supras, 300zx's are heavy but a nice car. WEight is HP.

back on topic:
FWD is a horrible platform for drag racing... go with the 240.
Back to RX7 land:
Don't buy either of them, get a 1st gen.
FB Body - $400
Powerglide tranny - $200
Ford 9" - $300
Custom driveshaft - $150
Bridge ported engine - $2500
Nitrous setup - $700 (at most)
Microtech - $800 (Yeah, they suck, but we're talking about a drag car here... and with a powerglide none-the-less)
There you go, I just built you a ******* 10 second car for $5000

Here’s another way to think about this. I’d much rather have a car that I can drive to the track, run 12’s without changing a thing, then drive home, than a car that can do 10’s but can’t be driven easily and legally on the street and needs to be tailored to the track. Low times are nice, but they aren’t everything.
